I was trying to install the QNX 6.0 voyager and I couldn't get it to work so I decided to remove it. I mistakenly deleted some files and directories that I thought belonged to voyager. When I was done, the web browser failed to initialize and I lost functionality. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Any files I need to replace?
Thanks!!
Please help!!
Josh

how about getting a compact flash card and putting one of the available images. You could simply put the card in, hold down two buttons turn it on, and voila, she's back. I can put the image on a CF for you if you need it. ( I use a sandisk 32MB)

I might try the compact flash but only at the last resort. I heard alot of people have fried there machines doing that, and I am not looking forward to it. I think I only need the files from /nto/voyager I mistakenly deleted all of those, also in the /nto/photon/ is there any voyager named files in there?
Thanks

I flash my machine almost on a daily basis. as long as you test the image first. Flashing is not a problem.
To test an image:
power off
insert card
wait 30 seconds
power on holding datebook button
audrey will power up to "Loading from compact flash" and then boot normally(or however it usually boots)
Pull card
power off
insert card
wait 30 seconds
power on holding sleep & datebook buttons
follow prompts(it takes a while to flash)

The only way I know of to possibly kill your Audrey by flashing it is if you have a flash file that includes a corrupt bootloader. None of the flashes I use have the bootloader in them. So, flashing is as safe as can be now.

How to you create an image that doesn't have the boot part in it? I create an image to a shared drive on my PC and then write out to the CF to flash all the time and don't want to create a paper weight. Thanks

RE:I might have killed my Audrey!!!! (modified 0 times)
Well I fixed my audrey by writing the flash directly to the CF then reflashing the Audrey. Everything works great. Question: I know how to change the colors from 256 to higher, and that file rewrites itself every time the browser exits. Is there anyway to make it permenant, like maybe removing permission to write on the file??
Thanks

There are 2 ways to not have the browser reset the config files:
1) Use PS to find process ID of browser, then use kill to kill it, then edit the file.
2) Make the changes to the config files and pull the plug. (It's best to unplug from the wall-outlet side instead of the Audrey side as the Audrey power cord has those fragile pins at the Audrey side)
I usually do the pull the plug solution unless I'm doing something risky that I want to make sure is going to work before I plug the machine back in.
If you are going to mess with the browser, be sure that you are able to access the shell via the control panel first. Don't have the browser be your only way to access the shell because if you break the browser you are stuck. (Yeah I did this once)
