Dead? Audrey
I think my Audrey is dead

I purchased my Audrey several months ago from Tiger Direct, updated the software and added MP3 support. Everything was working fine till one day she just decided not to boot. I'm finally getting around to seeing what the problem is. If I cycle power using the wall plug, I get a faint chirp out of the speakers, the backlight for the LCD appears to come on and then... nothing. No giggle, no picture. I thought it might be the power supply connector so I took a good look at the din plug and measured voltages with a meter. Everything looks good. So I took the case apart and checked to make sure power connections were good on the inside. I also reseated the daughterboard to make sure there were no loose connections there either. Again, everything looks fine and it still won't boot.

When I first received my Audrey, it exhibited similiar behavior (wouldn't boot up) but after pulling the wall plug several times, it fired up. It then worked fine for several weeks.

Is it possible to have a software problem that prevents booting, but is still fixable through reflashing with a CF card?

Has anyone seen similiar behavior?

I apoogize if this has been covered before.

No apology necessary. There is alot of info here to rumage thru.

From your explanation, I believe that reflashing her will have a GREAT chance of fixing her.

I have also had that happen and rebooting (unplug/plugin) several times has gotten past the problem. It sounds like you have tried that though.

I'd try reflashing her before giving her a burial.

Mine was behaving exactly the same way. I bought a Cf and adaptor, followed the instructions here on how to reflash it, and all is good in the world again.
