Where can i get more detailed hardware specs?
I know the audrey uses a Geode cpu (supported by BeIA), but want to know about the graphics, sound etc.
As I would like to know if I should buy 1 for use with BeIA.

These have been usually cheaper than compaq ia-1 on ebay

The problem is not the hardware. Audrey's hardware is probably capable of running BeIA (and Linux), but there is no way to get it loaded on Audrey. So far at least, no one has figured out how to get another OS into Audrey's flash. It may be possible to get an alternate OS onto a CF and flash it, but we have no specs to go by, and one failed attempt would almost certainly turn Audrey into a paper weight.

I under the impression it is possible to backup, replace internal CD images:

Yes you can dump Audrey's internal flash to an image on a CF card, and then restore that image back. Do it all the time. The problem is that a CF backup is just a copy of Audrey's flash, and we know how to do that. What we don't know how to do is to make an image on CF from scratch that is compatible with Audrey. Even the very first CF image by Sowbug was just a hacked up version of a known good image. This is further complicated by the fact that installing a different OS would probably mean changing Audrey's boot loader code, and if you get that part wrong, then you have a permanently dead Audrey.

Whatever "image" you might find for a different OS or different hardware won't be compatible with Audrey. Unless or until someone can convince 3com to release detailed specs on how all this works, I doubt there's much chance of success.

What about running Audrey OS on other hardware. I tried modified Audrey OS on a CF card and would not run. Couldn't flash it to the internal because is greater than 16mb. Anybody have a modified OS less than 16mb to test?
