OK LinLin..... I am also very new to this. I just updated my Audrey last nite. I used the DNS spoof method to point to a fake Marimba site. It was a little scarey (after the software update completed Audrey displayed the message that it would reboot itself..... after a few minutes of a neutral gray screen, I cycled the power, and prayed I didn't put it in a DOA state!) but it worked fine. I added the pterm hack so I could get a shell to QNX. Next I'll add the screen keyboard, and hopefully (big hope) eventually get a Real G2 player installed.
I won't give you the stp-by-step here, 'cause you can get it else where. I will point you to the right place. (I hope!) Good luck.
Go To: http://www.audreyhacking.com/ and click on the [Getting Shell] link on the left side of the page. The DNSs provided didn't work. So I followed the links provided to obtain updated DNS entries and used 63.172.195.4 for BOTH my primary and secondary DNS entries.
Spoofing: The goal here is to get marimba.3com.com to resolve to the same IP as 2-1b.artoo.net The second hostname contains the site that Audrey needs to download it's updates. To enable the spoof with my LinkSys Cable/DSL Router, I went to the admin page (168.192.1.1) and chose the [Setup] tab. I then changed the selection [Obtain an IP Address Automatically] to [Specify an IP Address]. I populated the IP address with the one obtained via DHCP (use Win98:winipcfg or NT/W2K: ipconfig from a command prompt), and both DNS entries with 63.172.195.4. Save the changes to the router. I then cycled the power on Audrey and followed the directions at the site noted above. To check to make sure that the spoofing works, point Audrey's browser to http://marimba.3com.com and you should see the same page that is at http://2-1b.artoo.net
Note: When you're done, you'll probably want to reconfigure your router to use DHCP. That is, if that is what you normally use.
