Modem and Network together?

Can you use the internal modem and the USB ethernet at the same time or can you only use one or the other.

I'd like to hook Audrey up to my home network (without broadband) and do MP3, VNC and digital picture frame stuff, but still use her modem to access the web.

I have UpdateWithShellPlus flashed to Audrey and she's working great. I'm hunting down a network adapter and wanted to know if it'd work with what I'm doing or should I bit the bullet and get broadband at home.

Any related information would be great.
Thanks, Mark

I had it working, but I didn't check for routing problems. Your ISP probably will overwrite the USB routing settings. Might not be a good idea.

I assume you have a PC on your LAN with a dial-up internet connection? You should try MS Internet Connection Sharing, Wingate, or one of the other internet/modem sharing options out there. Not only will you be able to share the dial-up connection, but it will automatically dial the modem when someone one the LAN needs to access the internet.

I haven't got the USB adapter yet. The internet sharing sounds good. I read somewhere that it would work, but is there anything I need to do to Audrey other that get the USB adapter and plug it in. Will it work with Windows ME/2000 ICS without adding something to the Audrey?

Thanks for the help. Mark

Wouldn't you need a crossover cable? I use a router, so I just use standard cat 5 cable.

Nothing needs to be done to Audrey. I used ICS without problems for a while until I got a router. You only need a crossover cable if you're hooking the Audrey straight to the ethernet card on a PC. If you already have a hub, then you're all set.
