War NFS Daemon?
Does it work?

Since it appears the direct Windows PC mounts via fs-cifs are intermittent has anyone tried using the freeware PC Exporter WAR NFS and using a NFS mount to it?

I haven't tried but this should work and much better than fs-cifs. Finally a free NFS deamon for windoze..

It should work, although I haven't tried it. I would recommend giving fs-cifs a chance though. Some folks have reported problems, but I have been using it since I got my Audreys about 6 months ago without any problems. I have Windows shares on 2 PCs on my network, and I host binaries, use them for my browser cache, play MP3s, etc. all without problems.

I would say that the problems people are having are not with fs-cifs and are with the server they are mounting to. I have also used fs-cifs with no problems to a windowsXP server and a linux samba share. What type of systems are people using that are having problems?

I kinda suspect the same thing, either server or network problems. I use shares on Win98 and Win2000. In the case of the Win2000 box, the network goes through 2 hubs and half-way across the house before reaching Audrey, and I still have no problems.

Also, check out trueGrid NFS. It's another free NFS server for windows.

I got TrueGrid NFS to work in Windoze rather easy. Works fine with fs-nfs2 from Audrey.
What could be even more interesting, this package contains a Unix compatible rsh.exe. If setup properly in Audrey with rlogin I believe, you could isssue remote commands from your windoze box for Audrey.
Has anybody tried this?
