Audrey on it's last legs?

I have an unmodified/unhacked Audrey that I bought new from TigerDirect last year. It has been working fine as a small browser/e-mail station until about a week ago. I moved my router and DSL modem to a new location (I use the 3Com 3c19250 NIC to connect) and my Audrey told me that it couldn't see the Internet. I assumed that I had left a Cat5 dangling somewhere, but about two days later, I cycled the power to see if that would help and now my Audrey sits still on the 3Com screen. No matter how long I leave it off, it always displays the same screen when I plug it back up. This screen is the first thing it's supposed to display before the animation/giggle/etc., but it's stuck there. Any Audrey gurus have an idea what's going on or have a tip to try? Thanks in advance for the help!

Sounds like an image reflash will save your Audrey. Download an image and try it.

Y'know, I've heard of this happening more and more, with previously 'working' Audreys. I can see people getting them fresh out of the box, and then not working, because of jostling during shipping, or bad quality control at the factory, but I've heard of several cases of Audreys that start to do what RocketFuel's did. I even bought one from a former 3Com employee where this happened. Sure, a flash fixed it, but is there something inherently unstable about the "stock" Audrey image? Anyone else out there see this?

Most of us are flashing ours all the time with new images, so that may have been masking the problem.

I have 3 Audreys which are on 24/7 since October/December with with the auto-sleep disabled and I have not had this happen ever. 2 of them crash every few weeks or so. But they always come back.

I've seen this as well across all the boards...Homeseer, Delphi, AudreyHacking, and of course here...Normally, one would attribute it to either a memory leak or a cache stache. Since, power cycle doesn't seem to fix it, I would discount the leak and go with a cache problem. Could be a disk full problem from the browser cache, the e-mail client, or even the datebook...Anything that grows over time. Any other files on Audrey that need periodic purging...Log files of any sort?

OK, I have the same problem but a reflash won't fix it..

I have been running my Audrey on fulltime for the last 6 mos, no problems. Last week it started locking up on me, while I was using it suddenly no response at all, it required a power cycle to get back to life. That started happening more and more (and faster every time) no I only get the 3com boot screen, I tried to re-image the Audrey: nothing.

I'll try some other images see if that makes a difference, but for now my trusted companion is dead and I think it is a little bit clunky as a paperweight..

Any ideas ?

I wonder if a nightly reboot would help? We could setup a job that fired in the weehours of the morning that simply did a shutdown and reboot. I know we do this routinely to Windows servers because of leaky software.

Ok, I might just be TOTALLY clueless, but where is the makecf.exe that everyone had used located? audreyhacking.com doesn't have it, and I can't find it on a general internet search. I'm not sure where hex workshop is either. Everyone talks about them, but I can't find any mention of where to get them. Any help in locating these apps would be appreciated. This is almost getting to the point of not being worth the trouble!
