goatcow -

any chance you would post the file on a site or email it to me at:

audrey "at" gdfx "dot" com?

(bots look at boards for email address to spam, so replace "at" with @ and "dot" with .)

goatcow,
Thanks for the file.

Feature Server is an extension of Channel Server, which I have up and running, but haven't "published" yet. Details are in the "Idea for automating enhancements" thread here:
http://www.linux-hacker.net/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.pl?Action=ShowPost&Board=3Com_Audrey&Post=158

If you are interested in being a guinea pig, I mean, checking it out, email me and I'll get you the IP of my DNS (shadowing www.vs.aparato.net) and the change to re-enable Channel Server. I do intend on publishing all the details, in addition to the usage, once it gets "up to par."

Deviant,

Are you applying changes via FeatureServer to a machine that has a remote mounted copy of the Audrey filesystem?

Be a nice way to test changes without risking crippling an Audrey.

I am in need of this feature if someone can write a NEWBIE how-to for us not *nix'rs

It took me 1.5 hours to just figure the ftp out....then I got comfy with several commands...however no go on understanding the compiling, binary transfer, chmod command, or installation

Thanks

I would say it would be simply a matter of moving the file to correct place and making sure is is execuatable...I would be happy to write an idiot sheet on it.

However, windows users if you use MIRC, Epic is based on ircii a console irc client...so you might want to download one of the windows clients which is based on the same thing, like BitchX, although I think Mirc does respond to ircii commands (been a long time since I used Mirc)

Okay, I give up. I have looked everywhere for Epic and I can't seem to find it. I powered up a QNX 6.0 box and tried to compile it myself from source, and failed miserably. I also tried running through countless repositories looking for a binary I could install that way ... no luck. All anyone has is PhIRC, which I have attempted before on an Audrey and it didn't come out well.

Could someone PLEASE send the epic binary to me? I would be happy to host this file off of my webserver, and slap the URL into this thread.

Email it to ray AT gloop.net. I would greatly appreciate it!!!!

Don't you love self-follow up's? I know I do.

So like most impatient people, I went off and figured it out myself. I couldn't get Epic to compile cleanly on any version of QNX that I had (I tried 6.0, 6.1, and 6.2.1). Eventually I decided it wasn't worth my while.

When I tried irc-ii (which epic is based on) it compiled with ease. So I copied the binary over to the audrey and she was pleased. I did find that I was running a little low on space, and I had to go delete a few things to keep the application from crashing on impact. But now it seems to be working great with some space to live in.

If you would like to try a copy of irc-ii on your audrey, I have taken the work out of the process. Go to http://www.gloop.net/audrey and download the irc-ii tar file. Simply untar, and run install.sh to install it. I also made a link to the binary as "ircii" so you can simply run "ircii" from term to fire it up.

Also in the /audrey directory, I put a copy of JabberX (tar'd and feathered) with an install.sh file. This was more for my convenience because I got sick of reading through the FAQ and putting the files where they need to go. Additionally, doing it "my way" prevents you from having to change ENV variables. Yay? NOTE: JabberX is pretty damned huge. Make sure your flash is not full when you are attempting to untar and run this booger.

NOTE 2: Infinity u1.1s (the newest) does not leave enough room for both of these programs. Delete the Aps you will never use if you plan on goofing around with these IRC and Jabber Aps.

Still, if anyone has a copy of the epic binary, I would still like to try it and would appreciate a copy emailed to me (ray AT gloop.net).

Thanks!!!!
