Hi guys and gals.. I just wanted to share some of the channel graphics I have been working on. I also linked the pages that I use for my channels except for the ones that I host locally (grocery list, photo album, default channel). Most(all?) of the pages I use were designed for pocketPC browsers and palm/avantgo sites. I prefer to uses these sites since they don't make users horizontally scroll and don't crash Audrey. I think pages that open up new windows (ads like orbitz and doubleclick) crash the channels. Anyone have any must see sites that work good for channels that they would like to share? I would like to see them...
anyways my samples are here. I was able to fill up 12 channels easy and had some that didnt make the cut :)

Any chance you can also tar / zip and host your "/data/XML/Channels" directory. It may save others some time when trying to create custom channels.

done.. I put instructions up also. Hopefully they work :/

photo and shopping will not work because they are custom pages mapped to a local server.

How does your shopping (grocery list) work? IS it a form on the local web server? I'm looking for some sory of a grocery list app and your mention of that caught my eye. Can you share the source code of the web page/form whatever?

Thanks

Well it is a form webpage, that runs a CGI script when submit is hit. The CGI script takes all of the form inputs and prints them to a CSV file that hsconvert (HandyShopper application http://www.palmgear.com/software/showsoftware.cfm?sid=63145820020105080709&prodID=1350 ) will turn into a .pdb file to be synced to my palmVx or my wifes palm m125 which are both running Handyshopper. I can post the CGI(not my code but hacked around to work) and my html code. Let me figure out the best way to pack it up and I will put it on my page.

Love your channels! Thanks for the great work. One question.... I can't make the app1 and app2 launch. See the icons on the desktop but nothing more. Any idea what could be the issue (I do think I followd all the directions)?

Thanks

Check at the bottom of the page http://monarchy.straynet.com

I left the creation of the app1.shtml and app2.shtml up to the end user to decide on. I put an example of the app1.shtml that I use at the very bottom of the page which you can copy. It is necessary to create the app1.shtml and app2.shtml in order to get the desktop setup to launch an app since I didn't include them.. (maybe I should have).

Hi,
I downloaded the tar file and un-tar'd it. Afterwards, I tried your example of mapping channel12 to espn. I then went to the filmstrip and tried it, and it worked fine except the graphic was not there. I rebooted, and the graphic appeared, however, now the link does not appear to work. I get the audrey "waiting for update" page. I added a second mapping to the onion, and the same thing happened. the link worked without the graphic and when I reboot, the graphic appeared, and the link no longer worked. If i hit the update now button twice, i get

An unknown or unspecified error has occurred. Error code -404.

Maybe this has to do with the /kojak/boot.sh file. I think by default the boot.sh file sets channels back to a default setting on boot.

Comment out all the lines that have to do with Channel updates in the /kojak/boot.sh by putting a "#" (without quotes) at the begining of each of the channel restore lines in boot.sh.

If you want to paste the contents of your boot.sh file here I can show you which lines need to be commented out. I removed them long ago so I forget the exact lines but I do remember that they were fairly obvious. After commenting out the lines with probably need to re-link the channel to the filmstrip spot that you want that channel..
e.g. ln -sf /data/XML/Channels/espn .Channel12

Let me know how it goes..
