Audrey hanging(?) after time set

My Audrey is suddenly not working. When I power it up, I get the usual startup animation and sounds, and then am taken to the screen where you set the date and time. I do this (note that the keyboard is working fine), and am then taken to the screen with the three overlapping blue "circles" to wait for the browser or whatever to open up. Unfortunately, this never happens -- I stay on the blue circle screen until the Audrey times out and goes to sleep.

During all this, none of the buttons have any effect, although typing on the keyboard once it's gone to sleep will wake it up. The activity light on the (3Com) Ethernet adapter flashes every so often, so something seems to be going on inside -- I can ping it from another machine on the network, so it seems to be alive. Also, if I detach the Ethernet adapter, the Audrey complains on startup that it's missing and that I should reattach it. It seems like it just needs a hard system reset, but the only way I've heard to do that is the "enter a bad password three times" trick, which does me no good since I can't get to that point. I've tried the alleged three-finger-salute of action-mail-browser. but nothing happens.

Does anybody have any clues about this, perhaps another way to do a hard reset? It's been a fun little device, and I hate to see it die this way....

My guess is switching Audrey on and off by unplugging it ultimately will corrupt files. Reflashing could be the best option if you have an archive..
Don't think you can fix this any other way.

Have you added anything to the boot sequence? Maybe modified 'go', 'boot.sh' or maybe something in rm-apps?

Try hitting the audrey options button while in the time-set screen (where the keyboard works). See if you can get to a shell thru options menu.

Hey! This is also exactly what my dead Audrey does too! I have a Audrey
that our receptionist bought on a off-hand comment I made that it could do
what she wanted it to do (kitchen computer etc...) and she bought the first one
she could find on e-bay. That's where it went wrong = while the seller said "new in box"
it wasn't, and dead as a doornail it was. Talked her into cashiers check too (I did
chew her out for that dumb move). I gave her a IBM thinkpad (remember the one with
the butterfly keyboard? Got 5 of those...) as a replacement. Kept the dead Audrey as a puzzle of sorts.

Tale over = have tried to re-flash and always seem to get "invalid flash image"...any ideas?

For making flash images I have a Sandisk 32MB CF card and a Dazzle reader on a XP Pro machine.
I have used MKCF and NTRW as well as Hex Workshop (Hex seems to be the best but none do the trick).
Still I don't know if I DID make a good image or if I have a Audrey with a bad bootloader.

Jukebox: your images look cool - I'd really like to try them if I could just get this darned Audrey out of the tank!
