Lost space with replaced file

Hi, I am trying to replace the libph.so.1 file with the one from QNX RTP file. One thing I quickly notice is that eventhough I remove the original file, I don't regain any disk space at all. In fact, when I copy over the replacement file (1.3 meg) from my computer, I loses about 3 megs of space. Did the file expand in size?
Can anyone help? Thx

This is weird when I start fs-cifs mount from pterm, it works without any problem. However, when I put the same command as a launchable item on shelf. My audrey crashes every single time. Does this have to do with the sparse amt of flash memory I got? (405k left)
