I found a Xircom PortGear PGENET10 USB Networking Adapter PN: 150-3010-001 for $9.95 ea.
Does anyone know if this will work (Flashed or non-Flashed) with my Aud?

My guess is from looking at the drivers on Intel (Intel aquired Xircom), you should be able to use this adapter if you flash it. It's a Kawa chip running it. Here's the link to the technical support page, where I downloaded the driver: http://www.intel.com/support/peripherals/xc/portgear/adapter/ethernet/index.htm

When flashing it, you'll need to modify your qtprog.inf file sections to look like the ones below (the duplicate entries are from the uncertainty as to which your adapter will be identified).

[QTProg.Mfg]

%QTProg.DeviceDesc0% = QTProg, USB\VID_0506&PID_03E8
%QTProg.DeviceDesc1% = QTProg, USB\VID_1645&PID_0005
%QTProg.DeviceDesc2% = QTProg, USB\VID_1645&PID_8005
%QTProg.DeviceDesc3% = QTProg, USB\VID_085A&PID_0008
%QTProg.DeviceDesc4% = QTProg, USB\VID_085A&PID_0009

[Strings]

QTProg.DeviceDesc0 = "3Com Audrey Adapter"
QTProg.DeviceDesc1 = "PortGear Ethernet Adapter"
QTProg.DeviceDesc2 = "PortGear Ethernet Adapter"
QTProg.DeviceDesc3 = "PortGear Ethernet Adapter"
QTProg.DeviceDesc4 = "PortStation Ethernet module"

Let us know how it turns out (and where you're finding the cheap adapter from)... you may have stumbled across a very good deal (though the netgear with the cat5 for $20 is a pretty decent deal as well).

Good find... some new ones on there, but many of those are known and listed at http://www.hiru.aoba.yokohama.jp/~ura/USB/usbether.html (which is referenced in the Chris Russo's The Unofficial Hack FAQ at http://www.3rdmoon.com/crusso/audrey/ .... like I said though, good find considering there are a few new models not listed anywhere else. Perhaps people will find a cheap source for some of these. I've got a second Audrey I'm possibly looking to connect, though I am hopeful of Jukebox's RTP USB support for some 802.11b devices.

Oh yah, and I found the netgear at microx-press.com, this link should take you to the product page, http://microx-press.com/templates/micro/product.asp?prodid=NETNE101A totaled out to $26 and change when I bought a couple months ago with shipping. They supposedly have 3,111 of them left... not sure about their numbers though, since if you added up all their inventory they'd seemingly have billions in debt.

I work for a company that manufactures a USB to ethernet adapter with a kawasaki chipset. I tested it and it works with the audrey. I would like to sell these to the audrey community, but I do not have the time to modify the device ID and ship all of these. If anybody is interested in buying large quantities of these, then send me an email ( canteenboy54@hotmail.com ) and I'll talk to our sales manager and see if we can work out a deal.

Is anybody interested to test these adapters with my new "QNX Audrey Platform" with QNX 6.1 USB support? They should work right out of the box, but I don't have those adapters to test myself. Could mean that at least those of you who don't use the Palm etc. can stop hacking these adapters.
Let me know please.

I recieved the Xircom adapter and was successfull in changing the VID/PID however when I hook it to my Aud it will not light the link light on the hub. The Aud will recognize it however will not talk to out of it. I verified the configuration VID/PID and reflased it with a Netgear and Linksys bin with the same results. I'll do some more experimenting tonight... Any recomendations???

Hey Jukebox,
I tried the Xircom on your 3-1 version of your flash with no success, out of the box or with flashed eeprom. Do I have the wrong version.

Davistw1,
Have you been able to do anything about the Xircom adapters? Does anyone know of any other adapters that have the same problem?
