Alternative Power Supply source found yet?
Need an Audrey P/S

Hello all! Before I ask my question, I just have to say that the people who have the knowledge and abilities to do this stuff from scratch have me in awe. I look at all of this and think, "It's not that hard", but I know that it's because a lot of you are doing the hard stuff for the rest of us. THANKS!

Anyway, I've looked all over this board and couldn't find an answer. I was wondering if anyone has figured out where to get replacement power supplies or how to make one that doesn't suck up half of the desk. I have old AT power supplies that I can use, so I'm not totally screwed (it's my 3rd Audrey anyway), but I don't want a monster power supply by my desk. I cracked opened the broken one and checked the fuse, and it's okay. I could always try and fix it (0V on all pins), but probing around with 110V flowing gives me the heeby-jeebies.

Any assistance/direction/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Allen

Does that mean that you got it to work with another Audrey? I read ALL of the related posts (searched for "power supply"), including yours. Since yours ended with a non-working Audrey, I didn't know if those Jameco parts worked. It seems like it should, but there was no resolution. Anyway, if it did work, I can probably figure it out from there. Although, it would be nice if you posted what you did in case there were any unforseen hurdles.

jayt posted this in another thread...

BTW: The Audrey power supply was made by ANAM in Korea http://www.anamic.co.kr/ Click on "SMPS /Standard Items" then select "AP1521-US" from the drop down menu. Might be a good lead to find replacement PS's.

Forget about Anam, I tried. As soon as they figured out that I was not going to order a gazillion of them, they stopped emailing back to me.

Okay, I think that I've figured something out. There is a voltage regulator designated LM2576 that can be had as fixed or variable. National Semiconductor and others manufacture it. The circuit requires only 4 supporting components (2 caps, 1 inductor, and a schottky diode).

Do any of you EE's know if using an old laptop P/S feeding the Vin of two of these circuits (3.3v and 5.0v) would work for the Audrey?

Digikey has them for $2.80 each, so this would be a cheap fix if you already have a high current P/S laying around and know how to solder.

Please advise. Thanks.
