I recently bought a Audrey for a friend and I am trying to use jukebox3 image to update it. I have Microtech USB CF adapter and a 32mb PNY CF card. I can make a Backup from my audrey and it udates the new one just fine, but I cannot make an falsh an image loaded form my PC. I know that there are other threads about this subject but I have read and reread most of them, downloaded all the software but still nothing. Is there a way of using a windows mount to place the image on the CF directly from the Audrey? Thanks.

If you have a network share you are all set. Put your image somewhere on the share and cat it directly to the CF. Something like this:

devb-cf
cat /share/backup.img > /dev/cf

Your image now resides on the CF and is ready to be flashed. Be sure to remove the CF before shutting down Audrey, you can corrupt your CF that way.

Ok I did just that, the image still comes up as invalid. Do I have to make it the size of the CF card first with mkcf.exe like I did when using the CF adapter.

No, that should have worked. Given all the trouble you're having, you might have a bad image. Perhaps it got corrupted when you downloaded it. Try downloading it again. If that doesn't work, I'm stumped.

Thanks,
I am afraid I am stumped too. I downloaded the image again, same results. I am going to try two things. I have a SandDisk 64mb CF card that I have for my Ipaq I will try with that. I will also download winzip and try unzip the image with it rather than the XP built in unzipper. Wish me luck.

Success, it must have been the CF card. It is working perfectly. Word of warning to those who want a CF card to do image flashing. Do not buy PNY memory.

Don’t think this has been asked but does anybody know how to get a functioning flash card to work with my reader? I am able to write to it using the [cat /share/img > dev/cf] method and successfully flashed Audrey. And prior to that I was able to write/read to it using my combo usb smartdisk reader/writer….

How can I reformat it in win2k/DOS format? Is the card now only compatible with Audrey?

Help, Thanks.

I had a similar problem with CF cards that I used with my IA-1 and my Audrey. My solution was to stick in my digital camera and format it there.

The IA-1 CF had 2 partitions, and the second one was messed up (first one was fine), so I had to tell the camera to format that one. With the CF that I had used on the Audrey, it coulnd't read the file system, so the camera made me format it. If you don't have a camera that uses CF, maybe a friend does...
