"Another QNX Image" Version 3-1 RELEASED
Update

New Message"Another QNX Image" Version 3-1 RELEASED (modified 0 times) jukebox
Profile
I did an update for "Another QNX Image". This is version 3-1 with the following changes:

- I installed phMp3 as a better MP3 player that works in tandem with Playlist Maker. Don't delete MediaPlayer, it's your audio plugin for voyager
- The passwd executable is now installed. Run passwd from the prompt an follow the instructions on screen
- I activated boot.sh and changed the shelf menu item in "Edit boot.sh". Here you can edit your auto starts and more
- I added "Shutdown" in shelf and it does exactly that. Never unplug a live Audrey again. The previous shutdown is renamed to "Reboot"
- I added in wm pop-up menu "Led on", "Led Blink" and "Led Off". Also I added Shelf Cfg there, most of the time it's easier to use this from outside shelf.

You can download this update on the usual place as jukebox1.zip:
http://www.audreyhacking.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Downloads&file=index&req=getit&lid=37

More info on my Audrey home page:

Enjoy!

Jukebox,
Could you tell me where the shutdown app came from? Does shutdown and phmp3 need the 6.1 libs? I was curious to try phmp3 but phjuke works so well I didn't spend any time on it after i downloaded it.

Thanks Jukebox for the new version.

I've been trying to download 3.1 from your site and also Audreyhacking.com, and I keep getting a 74KB file only. I know you're good but ...! I'll keep trying.

Also, is there any way to modify Marius' Picture Frame app to end when you touch the screen, and maybe begin after a period of inactivity???

Thanks,

Audrey X3

jukebox1.zip should be 11,677,794 bytes and jukebox-usb1.zip 12,294,147 bytes.
I asked Harper at audreyhacking.com to check. It may be too busy on the server at this time, I don't know, but it should be resolved in the next couple of hours if there is a problem with the file size, I hope.

For the rest I wait and see what other questions come in and I will answer them tonight all at once.

In the meantime server maintenance is done on my servers and I get no mail at this time and my web site may go down for some time in the coming days and nights...

AdreyX3,
To double check I downloaded both new zip files from audreyhacking.com, used the USB1 version on Audrey to cat both on their own cf card, flashed Audrey twice and both images worked perfect. If you have problems downloading these files the problem is somewhere on your side.

booya,
Couple of months ago I tried version 6.0 of phshutdown in a slightly hacked image. It didn't work and caused some problems at the time. Maybe now it will work in my image, but I used version 6.1 instead. No Audrey should be without this utlility, could be a life saver for Audrey and prevent a lot of problems that you read about on this board.

I'm new, so forgive me for being clueless, but also does Jukebox's new image still support the Palm applications from the original Audrey?

And do you need to first have "Another QNX Image version 3" before installing "3-1"?

Thanks,
~Replayer

Hey Jukebox...

I am having the same problem as I have seen from other people that have used your image both on the board and friends.

When I boot the audrey I have a network connection for about 2 minutes. I can goto the terminal and ping any machine on my network, you can watch it eventually just stop.
This has happened since prior to version 3 of your image. I am not sure exactly what is causing this but I do know that if I take everything out of the startup and just load pterm I can access the network forever. If you have any thoughts on this at all I would appreciate it. I am using the standard 3COM USB to Ethernet adapter and am using DCHP server for my TCP/IP settings.

Okay. So I am sitting there playing with the audrey... getting frustrated because my network connection goes away.... I reboot a few times, it comes and goes... then I just copy some MP3s to my share, and quickly fill phMp3 with the list... I click play and start doing other things... I start to realize that its not stopping... so I added some more songs, switched songs quite a bit. Everything is working great! Then I went back to the shelf and just stayed on there for awhile to watch the CPU meter... all of a sudden the music stops and I am like F***. So just out of curiosity I removed the CPU Monitor from the shelf. I haven't had a problem yet.

Weird eh?

OK my thoughts.. It's impossible to publish an image witout a solid network connection. If the network doesn't work you cannot get the image out and it takes more then 2 minutes to do so. For me it stays up for weeks in a row.
What do you mean with "if I take everything out of the startup and just load pterm". I have no clue but I'm with you and want to resolve this.
I assume you have this problem with an "out of the box" image, unmodified, shelf still in "auto" mode, and with your own new completed network setup in ActionPalette with all required items filled out with your specific data. Nothing from me there anymore? Which version are you using at this time?
Please let me know, I go to the movies now and will respond when I'm back.

Well things are working fine for me since I removed the CPU Monitor from shelf.

What I had to do before to get the connection to stay active was edit the startup file, remove shelf and add pterm. So when I'd reboot just pterm would appear. I could then sustain the connection. Shelf seems to cut my connection short. It also now seems (which I just discovered tonight) that removing the CPU Monitor from shelf stops it from doing this... Seems really odd to me, but it works. If I turn the CPU Monitor on again my network connection is cut short. The CPU Monitor is not important to me in anyway so I am happy with the solution. I guess I would just like to know "why"...

Sean_F,
Cool! davincy-27 from MQNX was looking for this already, for whatever reason I never had this problem. I'll check what happens if I use the CPU monitor from the RTP 6.1, if anything at all. Please tell your friends about this and thanks!

Well all last night I had the picture frame running on my windows share (works great btw, you can add/remove pics from your share and it just pics it right up). Just to make sure I wasn't crazy I added the CPU Load Monitor plugin on my shelf again and within a minute or two I lost network activity...

Thanks again jukebox for the image... Now I can actually dive in and use it!

Sean_F,
Would you mind trying this. I can't do it myself to find out the difference.
Insert a "Drawer" in shelf and put the "CPU Load Monitor" in this drawer and check what happens with your network connection with the drawer closed (CPU Monitor invisible) and the Drawer open with the Monitor visible.
Thanks!

Jukebox,

I've been using 3.1 since you posted it. No problems. I did notice that SHUTDOWN isn't working properly for me, I think. When I choose SHUTDOWN I get 3 choices. If I choose shutdown and reboot, the screen goes blank and freezes. I have to pull the plug.

All other apps working great (except ACID, but that's my problem.)

Is the current version dated 3/27?

AudreyX3,
I did mention that "Shut Down" does exactly that and other features aren't implemented. Reboot is a seperate command in shelf and Shut Down opens and you have to press OK only and it will shut down your system and it will tell you "That it is now safe to unplug your computer". It works exactly as I promised and doesn't do anything else. Don't use the other choices and you're fine.
Hope this helps

I have updated my Audrey web site, based on all the information I received here.
If you are having any problems with the latest image versions, I recommend you check descriptions of added features and Known Problems. Chances are any problems you may have are addressed there.

Infinity did a nice job changing the setup of shelf. I will make a shelf.cfg available (only 5kb) in the coming days that you can download with voyager direct into my version 3 and 3-1. No other steps necessary and this could be a nice new choice. No need to download a whole new image unless you like to do that.

Love the new looks of 3-1! I have a slight problem in that I would like to keep Palm OS support since I am using it to synch my Palm address book and appointment calendar (kind of like 3Com intended). Do any of the new images out there keep Palm OS support?

Thanks for the great work!

davinci27,
Al he did for me was a little hack to get the drop down menus when you tap. Was necessary because normally you use no mouse on Audrey.
About 10 days ago I heard he was working on an update, should be done in a couple of weeks he said.
Feel free to contact him yourself ofcourse.

New MessageCPU Monitor | Shelf Drawer (modified 0 times) Sean_F
Profile
Jukebox,

Well it performed as I expected it. I put the CPU Load Monitor in a drawer. I restarted the audrey, and made sure the drawer with the CPU Monitor in it was CLOSED... I had the Shelf displayed, but the CPU Monitor was hidden in the drawer. I then went to the terminal, and started pinging a machine on my network. I let the Audrey ping for about an hour. Once I came back the machine was still pinging. I opened the drawer with the CPU Monitor and watched it. It stopped pinging and my network connection was lost about 2 minutes after I opened the drawer.

Interesting eh?

davinci,
About the link and voyager. What I did was renaming voyager.server to vserver and making a link again to voyager.server. This solves the setup with voyager -P voyager.server, because voyager looks for vserver and no parm are necessary this way.

Please read my last post about removing ActionPalette completely in "Audrey on Steroids". I could do the same with version 3-1 here.
Let me know what you want.
