This might be a good idea. Many hacks in Audrey result in the change of just one file. If you change the appearance of shelf or wm, change the behaviour of a button, add a mount, autostart something, just a single file is changed.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a repository somewhere on a web site that builts a catalogue of these hacks and where you can download those small files with voyager directly in Audrey and you get what you want. You can completely customize Audrey to your liking.
Just wanted to bring this up. I cannot do it, but maybe someone else is interested to provide this as a service to all Audrey users.

My latest USB1 image has a simple modular setup to implement new USB devices on Audrey with simple scripts you could call from boot.sh for example. I have a klsi and a pegasus based nic setup in /nto/bin/networkUSB.sh on autostart and a microsoft mouse in /nto/bin/mouse.sh as a menu item.
Installing new USB devices requires a similar one or two line script for each of them plus their respective lib and dll installed in the right directory. It doesn't require much to have a new USB device working on Audrey at all.
How simple it may look and is in fact, I don't expect many people will be able to do this, but a message board like this could be a great help to share these scripts for everybody to use. I'm willing to make those scripts including the lib and dll that have to go with them available for download on my web site. Since I don't have any other USB devices than I implemented already in the image I can't do more myself.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a cd-rom or cd-player hooked up, or a flash card read/writer or some other USB device you consider useful?
The USB device install process would be reduced to a simple download of 3 items or so with voyager, save them in the right directory, do a chmod +x and autostart them if necessary or make a menu item for them if you prefer?

I would love a resource like this... There are many interesting updates out there, but several of them require flashing the rom, and that is something I'd really rather not do. The files for USB support would be a huge help. There are many usb devices out there that could add some major functionality to the Audrey.

gdesignr,
Well you're the first responding.. However this would work for simple hacks. The USB introduction includes a complete overhaul from the tcpip stack and that's not doable with a simple download... Sorry...

Maybe the USB stuff wouldn't be of much help to me, but I'm sure others might find it useful. Still, I imagine there are plenty of useful things out there I could run without a total image flash. When I say that a central repository would be a good idea, I guess what I'm looking for is simple add-ons, but it could also be more complex things. I've found some really good ones by searching around - like an on-screen keyboard and the ACID program, and the info you need for adding shell and shutdown - that are well packaged and easy to install without having to flash the system, but you still have to get lucky and find them in different spots. I'm also still having mixed success with getting a USB keyboard to work on my Audrey, which requires libc.so.2, devu-ohci, and devu-kbd from 6.1, devi-hirun from 6.0, libusbdi.so.2 and devn-klsi.so... Which I was able to find by downloading the 6.0 and 6.1 ISO images, installing them and grabbing the files... Basically it just seems like all of this running around finding files could be made alot more organized with a central repository.

I like this repository idea also. It seems like anyone who has the ability to supply a storage location should be able to set this up. A few simple pages with short descriptions (with any requirements listed) would be very helpful. Another thing that could be good is links to threads that discuss the apps for more information.

I'd just like to say something quick here: THANKS! All of you QNX savvy people out there are providing a greatly appreciated service to the rest of us. I'm going to try and teach myself a little about this OS, but for now you guys (& gals?) are making this much easier.

tommy_remmert,
Just wanted to announce my Repository setup and only now I read your post. Hope we can work together on this. I'll email you.
Anyhow here it is, ready for your contributions, but at this time still empty: http://www.prins.net.net/audrey/downloads.html
The format is open for discussion, but for a start I have set it up for my own images, but more is possible ofcourse, especially if I can work with tommy_remmert and others possibly.
Let's give Audrey users more choices to customize their Audrey as they want it.
