Updates / DNS Spoof not working???!!! (modified 0 times) tommy_remmert Profile I just received my audreys, and flashed the NE101, and it works fine... I can jump right onto the net (cable modem) I went ahead and changed the DNS Settings to: 66.17.16.111, both primary and secondary... (also tried 66.17.16.112) Checked the date, and the time. Then went to download schedule, and set it for about 8 more minutes... I then checked the profile, and the new DNS Numbers were registering... Then I pressed the power button, and waited... The activity light went on for a few seconds at the correct time, but then it stopped. I then waited about 15 more minutes, then pressed a key. I was at the main screen as if nothing happened. Ok, so then I figured there was a problem with the DNS. I opened the web browser, and went to http://66.17.16.111 and it came up just fine. I then went to http://3com.marimba.net and nothing came up, so then I went onto my windows machine, ran NSLOOKUP, set the DNS Server to the one mentioned above, and tried a query on 3com.marimba.net, and it replied with the address of: 66.17.16.112 So, I concluded that for some reason, all 3 of my audreys can not resolve that host/domain name into the correct ip address... Has anyone had this problem before, or have any suggestions for me to try? 03-28-2002 22:40:27

I messed around with my DNS settings etc, and I couldn't get it resolve to artoo, I checked by typing the marimba adresss into to audrey browser and I got a dns error. But, like I said I didn't try too hard. Now comcast is having an outage in my area so I can't do anything. As soon as it is back up and I got to give a shot again. I new to all this so I could be messing somthing easy or somthing. One thing was wierd about my UBID audrey though. When I got her she was already running final version 4-28-2001. RE:Updates / DNS Spoof not working???!!! (modified 0 times) jroysdon Profile Check the update stats ( http://2-1b.artoo.net:280/marimba/ ). Plenty of folks getting updates (if you ever see a day go by without folks updating, then email me as it means the update server is hung... Castanet is a piece of junk app). Plus, you can hit the main Castanet Marimba server ( http://2-1b.artoo.net/ ) to see that it's up, and you've got the DNS specified correctly (66.17.16.112), it should work. You should be able to resolve http://3com.marimba.net/ and http://marimba.3com.com/ (it'll look just like http://2-1b.artoo.net/ ) to verify your Audrey is using my DNS server to force it to my update server. Oh, and just to make sure it's all nice and happy, I just stopped and started the Castanet server and hit it with my Audrey with no problems. Thanks to whoever made this happen at 3Com, although it is making the crappy Marimba Castanet server crash a lot sooner (I may just make a cron job to restart it once a week if this keeps up). I'm now seeing over 10,000 unique Audrey serial numbers updating (or checking for updates) from 2-1b.artoo.net per month. As mentioned in many posts, I have changed the DNS address to 66.17.16.111. I also changed the download time. After a day, the unit still has the same version. Does anyone have any idea?
