Updated infinityaudrey1.1.cf , new eBulletin added, semi-functional RandomPic screen saver. (modified 1 times) Infinity Profile A few new features added. 1. all new eBulletin (post-it notes with LED indication, urgent=blinking, attention=led on) 2. picframe is replaced by RandomPic by mheeli (tap screen to exit) 3. semi-functional randompic screen saver, for some strange reason it opens in background and requires a key press to bring it to the foreground, then it continues to function fine. Preview mode works perfectly-very strange indeed!!.exit with screen tap. if someone can figure how to force it to open in the foreground then we have ourselves a functional picture frame screen saver. 4. inpired by jukebox3.1.cf i added phshutdown(not very useful without hardware power button hack, i didn't get around doing the hardware button hack, i will post instructions once i got it done) 5. updated wm pop up menu. 6. added find and grep (for newbies: to use find, type "find / -name filename" this will search for filename through all the directories, wildcards can be used.) 6. fixed a few problems in infinityaudrey1.cf 7. check my audrey page for screen shots and tips. http://home.attbi.com/~kenzhao8/index.html 03-31-2002 19:39:51

Silly as it sounds, the eBulletin is perfect for my wife. (Part of my justification for putting one in the kitchen was to cut down on the post-its, etc..) And "find" and "grep"! I reformatted the CF card and tried several more times with no luck. I looked at the file size of the actual image, and it's 16,124kb where all of the other images I have downloaded have been 16,128kb. Have you been able to restore from this image? (modified 0 times) Infinity Profile audreyx3: if you modified vnc viewer in shelf already and it still doesnt launch then you probably need to add pterm infront of vnc. so the command line in shelf would be something like this"pterm vncviewer your.vnc.server.address". you will see pterm flashes open then goes away then vncviewer should pop up, you can see that i had to do that for a few items. but i used -x 10000 -y 10000 so the pterm screen opens off screen. davinci27: you're right i just put saver and savercfg in /nto/photon/bin and saver.cfg in /nto/photon/.ph/wm , do an execv on RandomPic and make a .sh in /nto/photon/savers modify the line saver = RandomPic in the saver.cfg. run savercfg and you can set the time and select RandomPic or blank screen. It previews fine but when it's activated it needs a keypress to bring to the foreground. if you can figure a way to force it to open in the foreground then it works. (modified 0 times) Infinity Profile Jukebox i was wondering if you want to work together in creating the "ultimate image", one that has everything, including usb support, datebook, address book (if there are enough support), etc. Eventually it will turn into something like that sooner or later anyway. we will ask members here what they really want and evaluate what is most feasible. this way we can eliminate all these other images floating around and just focus on one. That way it will be less confusing for new people as well. Since there are not alot of hardcoding in creating these images anyway it should be quite easy to merge a few images together and create the "ultimate image". 04-03-2002 10:08:15

Network Cfg is an app that allows you to check your network setup, but cannot make it right if setup wrong, and therefore it's useless. If setup wright dhcp.client takes care of it. So to have this screensaver in Audrey this means you want to use 1.4 mg of space? My version 3 image had 4 mg of free storage to have it work like a charm. Are you guys sure you want to do this? (modified 1 times) Infinity Profile that's only true if you use screen saver the way it was designed to, which required phphoton.so which is quite big. the way i'm doing it does not required phphoton.so and the screen saver modules. that one single lib is about 1.4 mb, i tested it out the way it was designed to with that lib and worked perfectly with the puzzle screen saver. A randompic screen saver does not require the photon lib(huge file) and only requires saver and savercfg which are very small. since we using randompic, all we gotta do is link it to execv in the savers folder and change saver=RandomPic in saver.cfg, it will then show up as a module in savercfg. when you hit preview it runs RandomPic.sh(which contains your pics share) perfectly, it's just that it doesn't come to the foreground when it's activated by the set time without a keypress. if we run the screen saver and invoke a simulated keypress after it's activated it will pop to the foreground then we have a picture frame screen saver. 04-04-2002 09:34:51

I use it to set up the network on my audrey without any problems. I can switch between dhcp and static, and change my static address. I haven't tried it with a dialup account as I don't have one to test. In the future, I'd like to talk to you about geting the photon ppp to work. I'd like to add this to my image so non network users could use MQNX. There are several other files that must be included for phlip to work. However it uses the same 1.4 mg lib as screen saver and I consider that a waste of space in my image, where you setup the network in a script as you like it with dhcp or a fixed ip and different nics and that's it. No need for Network Cfg anymore. In USB1 phlip behaves like a bank that wants to give you a loan when you don't need it and doesn't when you really need the loan. I put it in only temporarely for testing purposes when you set up the network in the script. I just read infinity sets up the screen saver without that same lib. That means phlip is the only user of an extra 4 mg lib. Btw if you want to setup ppp for modem users you may have to choose for my script setup to setup the network. Check with neutrino sin in an old Audrey and you'll see with Arg what the modem setup is. I don't believe you can easily use modem and network setup in one script. I mentioned this in the other thread, but I noticed you were a little unhappy with infinity so you may not read it. libphoton.so.1 compresses down to 450k not 1.4 megs. I like phlip because it lets you do more then switch between dhcp and ppp. it allows you to setup static IPs, change DNS, IP, gateway, etc. I like GUI configs and to me its worth it.
