Hey there.... thanks for reading this. I just got an audrey. It's used. I'm trying to hook it up to at&t broadband. I have a 3com usb that works, and I have it connected to the cable modem provided by at&t via the ethernet cable.

I cannot get it to log on. Can anyone give a new guy some tips, I really know next to nothing about networks and audreys. At&T is really set up for PC's so they don't have a clue with giving me info on getting my audrey on line. I'm sure this is probably really simple for someone out there, but for me it is like trying to figure out quantum physics by looking into a classroom through the keyhole. I use PC's everyday, but audrey and networks are new ground for me.

Also, to update or modify or not? What do you gain by updating the firmware?

I need to get online first though.... so any ideas?

Thanks for your replies,
Mark

Let me see if I understand your situation. You only have an Audrey at home and you are trying to connect it to your cable modem? If you have another computer in the house with braodband access it may be easier to share a connection form there with a ethernet hub. Also have you tired leavving the automatic broadband set up on the audrey? Use the name of your company in all caps and you user name, like this AT&T/username in the place that says Dbc(?) host.
This may or may not help but here is is anyway.
Good luck,
Gabe

Thanks for the reply Gabe,

Yup, all I have is a cable modem that at&t just installed and my audrey. Where this is a used audrey that was previously setup with a ethernet connection, I don't know if I am using the automatic broadband connection. How can I reset (hard reset) the audrey?

I know that the broadband uses ppp. Whatever that is, so I have it setup for DHCP and I've put in the username, etc. No luck there though. Has anyone else tried setting up an audrey on it's own (no hub, no PC) to connect to the net via broadband modem?

Thanks
Mark

If your broadband is using PPP then it is actually using PPPoE (PPP Over Ethernet). I don't think that the Audrey is capable of doing this. Perhaps somebody else can confirm this?

If you are planning on adding another computer (or Audrey) to your broadband connection then it might be worth your while to purchase a broadband router that is PPPoE capable. Once you install and configure this device your Audrey would plug into the router and should work after a couple config changes.

Your actual hurdle is finding out if Audrey can do PPPoE, I don't think she can though.

You can hardreset the Audrey by puting in a password then presing then turn it off. When you turn it back on it will ask for the password enter the *****wrong!!!!! one three times and it will hard reset it self.

does anyone have a cheap router that I can buy?

Thanks,
Mark

Gabe, so I first need to set a password, then power off, power on and enter any wrong password 3 times and it will hard reset after that? Will this also clear all memory and bring me back into the system at the level of a new never powered audrey? (screen calibration level, first time power up?)

Thanks
Mark
