Ethernet Up? in boot.sh

I have seen 2 ways of waiting for the ethernet connection when automounting a shared directory at startup.

1 method looks like this:

#wait for ethernet to go up
while [ !-f /dev/usbenet0 ]
do
sleep 1
done
/nto/bin/fs-cifs....

The 2nd method is:

#Ethernet up?
if_up -r 20 en0
fs-cifs -a......

Is one way better or worse?

Thanks

The problem with the first one is if
while [ !-f /dev/usbenet0 ]
Never happens, your audrey will never boot.

The second one is alot safer. You might have to mess with the '20' parameter to give yourself more time if needed.
