This is a continuation of another thread I have, but this one asks a more direct question, where the other post might get ignored.

Has anyone had any luck connecting directly to a cable modem via the usb ethernet adaptor? It looks like I need to buy a router. Don't want to do this....

thanks for your replies...

I do not know of anyone on this board that was able to do that. You would need the drivers for your cable modem for QNX... Your best bet is to use a cable modem with the ethernet interface.

I checked the Utilities Reference on qdn.qnx.com and found it should be possible on my USB image.
You need these extra files from the RTP 6.1:
npm-ppoe.so (library)
pppoed (execuatable)
pppoe-up (script)
pppoe-down (script)
Directions with pppoed are pretty clear. Why not try this and let us all now how you go? Edit the networkUSB.sh as needed after installing these files and it should work after a reboot.

Another option, maybe less expensive than a router, is to install a second ethernet card in your PC, connect this to the Audrey USB ethernet adaptor with a crossover cable, and use Internet Connection Sharing or other software solution to share the connection. I've seen ethernet cards lately for under $10. However, routers can now be had for $50 or less and it would probably be worth the investment. I traded my ICS setup for a router a few months back and it has been well worth it.

mark_30,
Over the weekend I will make a couple of scripts available for my version USB1-1 in my Audrey Repository. It will be scripts for different network setups with klsi and pegasus nics on the tiny and the regular tcpip stack and I will add a script for the PPPoE setup and make the files you need available for download. I cannot check if it works but I'm sure it will and you can use Network Cfg for setup of your specific needs to connect.
