I just bought 2 Audrey's from fleebay, and neither dial-up modem works. I've tried adding some basic modem commands to no avail. Will flashing to another image solve this problem? I get all the usual modem sqeaks and rattles, then it pops up and says that it can't communicate with the other computer.

Also, I've been to the other hacking sites, which are not exactly the most user friendly for non-linux people like me. Is there a plain English instruction page for hacking Audrey?

Thanks,
Sue

We need more info to help....

Were they new, unopened boxes?
What version are they? Action Pallette/Audrey Info
Are they updated with shell?
Have you done the password reset? set password then enter it wrong three times, starts Audrey as new out-of-box.

Flashing is the best way to update Audrey.

If the message is "LCP error", the update to FINAL will fix the problem. If it is not LCP error, can you be more specific about the error and the provider you're trying to dial into?

Version is 1.01.23.00 RC15 12/7/2000

Error message = "audrey had difficulty connecting. Please try to connect again...etc." after sending login and password (i've double checked them).

As per a previous suggestion, I've added 'ats32=98' to the extra settings box in internet settings.

It was a brand new Audrey.

Trying to dial in to PacBell dialup (Pasadena, CA) - I use DSL but have tested dialup with my laptop - I also tried powering off DSL to no avail - same error.

Thanks,
Sue

I had a smiliar problem. I fixed it by dialing into a different access number from my ISP. No idea why. The modem(s) at the first access number simply didn't work with Audrey.

Sue-
I'm having problems with a dialup as well. I've been working on this for a few days: I'm trying different access numbers, different ISPs but to no avail. Did you try a broadband update and then go to dialup? I want to use mine at home where I don't have broadband.
Post if you make any progress.
Thanks.

suzyq,

My mother's Audrey is having the same problem with PacBell dialup in Scramento, CA. I have changed the access number and it work for about 2 days and the same error appeared again. So, I flash her Audrey to the final version with shell and so far no problem yet.
