There is a form somewhere...lessseee..ah! Here it is:

http://www.ubid.com/help/topic38.asp

Fill the form out. I got an email reply during the weekend of all times. Despite the fact that ubid doesn't even look in the box before shipping the units out, they are polite. They agreed to pay for return shipping and refund the auction + shipping costs. I got an email with a hyperlinked UPS label that I printed out that I can just slap on the box to return the unit so I don't have to fill out paperwork, etc.

Good luck!

Everyone who wants to buy off Ubid should be aware that these are "reconditioned" Audreys. That being, they were sold as a lot to Ubid as "reconditioned" and Ubid never opens them to take a look at them. You're gambling when you order that you may have to go through the hassle of a return. From what I've seen/heard, Ubid was shipping out the boxes that were in better condition first and recently they seem to be down to beat up boxes with poorly packaged Audreys.

My first Audrey (bought late Jan) was in excellent condition, as a matter of fact, it was not even a refurbished unit... was brand new with full packaging. It did have one razorknife looking swipe down on of the box flaps. I just purchased a second unit last month and it came with all the parts (by luck more than anything.... as the box was in bad condition and anything could have slipped out). It was however reconditioned and missing all the packaging save one half of one of the foam supports. The keyboard had the batteries in it still and one of them was starting to leak. Aside from a keyboard flakiness in the first boot (which resolved itself once I used the other Audrey keyboard once then swapped back (no clue)), it was in good working condition (and updated to FINAL). I can find no problems with this Audrey, though I haven't put it through a rigorous testing yet.

The moral of the story, bid low and keep your expectations low and you may be happily suprised. If not, hassle Ubid till you get compensated fully.

uBid is scammy outfit, they kept sending form letters to my emails, and finally stopped emailing altogether when I suggested that they actually READ the chain of emails that had accumulated with all the back and forth. I lost out on two styli out of five machines ordered, at least the other three were completely perfect, and fully refurbished.

I'm done with uBid forever, better to buy from a decently rated eBay seller.

I bid on two in the same day, in two different auctions. The first arrived wrapped in an oversized plastic bag in a long box filled with those blasted foam pellets, just the base unit. No keyboard, power supply or stylus. I'm waiting to hear back from uBid on return instructions.

The second one (which, of course, I ordered for a friend) came in the original box with all the parts, complete and in perfect working order, just a little dirty.

Go figure.
