I have slowed down my out-of-school activities, so I'm no longer really doing much with the Audrey Apps forum over on Delphi. I started getting discouraged about it when I saw that Delphi was having membership changes, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they eventually went to a fee paid service, which of course would be the death of them.
Frankly, the CF sharing was not going too well, not a lot of signups, I guess the majority of people were either expert hackers, who could figure out how to find the directions here and at AudreyHacking to get a fresh image, or they are people who simply don't care (or are unaware of the possibility of) to upgrade their machines. An Audrey that has been unmodified certainly is capable of a number of things, the unsophisticated would probably be happy with it.
I tried to do all I could to bridge the gap between the two groups, I even took a course in UNIX (got an "A") and I'm still not too up on what most people are talking about on this board. It just gets more and more complicated, and harder to figure out without a degree in computer science. Now, there are really good images out there with all kinds of things, the remaining Audreys are probably better off in the hands of people who want them on a wall in every room of the house. The people who will like them as they are will soon tire of them, and will shove them in a closet, only to bring them out for a garage sale. Of course, they will just end up on eBay, and into hacker hands, where they will be of the best use.
It was a fun ride, and I learned a lot from the six months that I was actively managing the forum. Many thanks to all here who contributed.
