qnx apps on tucows / pkg-installer

after browsing thru the files at http://qnx.tucows.com/qnxsoft.html, i realized they're all in this funky .qpr format, so after a bit of googling, i tracked down that i need the file "pkg-installer" to unpack these, but unfortunately, all I can find is usage info, not the actual file.

on another note, could this be of use to those working on an audrey package installer app? seems that qnx already has a rpm type setup.

The qpr format is just a.tar.gz change to sufffic on the file and you can open it with and tar/gzip utility.

The package installer is a little overkill for what we need to do. It's a very large file, uses large files to keep trackof installed packages, and most qpr use a directory structure that differs from the audrey. I considered using the pack manager, but didn't think we really need all its functionality.

You need to have a LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable and set it to include any directories that contain shared libs. The format is the same as for PATH. Something like:

export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/local/lib:/usr/lib

If you are trying to run tcl you are likely wasting your time. tcl will run, but only for small scripts, and it uses up all of Audrey's resources. tk requires X and won't run at all. Have a look at the audreyhacking.com forums for an answer I gave there recently about tcl.

When you unpacked the qpr you should have had a couple of qpk's and qpm's The qpm's are XML encoded instructions for the Package installer. If you open them in ped, you can see what libs are required and where to install the other binaries.
