After much searching and frustration I have desided to ask some of the local experts here.
I need instructions on how I can put those many great images I have downloaded on my computer on a CF card and then flash my Audrey.
I know there are some articals on the subject, but none actually fully describe the process of.
(1) How to copy a downloaded Audrey image to a CF card.
Please could someone help me here, I have looked everywhere..
Thank You in Advance..

RE:Complete Instructions on making a CF Image for the Audrey (modified 0 times)
Assuming you have a share in a LAN with Audrey you do this command in Audrey:
devb-cf
Next insert your cf card.
cat /<your share>/<image> > /dev/cf
Next remove the cf card, power down Audrey, insert cf card, hold Datebook AND power button and power up Audrey, follow instructions on screen and you're done.
You can setup your LAN in various ways, depending on your platform on the PC.
Jukebox,
Yes all three of my Audreys are connected to my LAN.
I even have my PC setup as an FTP server.
So What I want to do is put your latest Jukebox Image that I have downloaded on my computer to a CF card
so I can flash my Audrey with it..
Can you tell me how this is done, sort of step by step.
Sorry I have no experiance makeing a CF card, so any help will be very apperciated.
Thanks again

Oh forgot to say I have a USB Sandisk CF card read/writer device connected to my PC.
And two 32MB CF cards..
SO is the Jailbait image on my PC computer copied to the CF card through the USB Read/Writer device on my PC ?
If so how do I do this ?
Thank again, Musicman38

Do you have your LAN setup? All you have to do is read my previous post, replace <your share> with the name of your share in Audrey with the image on it, replace <image> with the name of the image you want on your cf card. You have to press Enter after each command I mentioned (devb-cf and the cat command line) and that's all you have to do. It's probably a lot easier than you expected and you don't even need your FTP server. You may not be familiar with the 2 commands, but devb-cf and cat are just QNX commands. Don't forget the one > in the cat command line.
Now I'm losing you with the Jailbait image..You don't need the cf card read/writer too.. All you need is Audrey in the LAN with a share with the image on it and the cf card.
Open terminal in Audrey and follow my steps. The cf card goes in and out the cf card slot of Audrey. It's really much easier than you expect. I assume you have a share setup from your PC with fs-cifs in Audrey at this time.
Hey Musicman38, if you still have problems you may consider this too.
You can get the image of your choice on your own cf card for $5 or so plus postage here: http://www.trycatchconsulting.com/audrey/images.asp
Musicman38,
In case you are starting at square one (factory-fresh or totally unhacked audrey), below are the general steps for loading an image on a cf card by using the audrey. This is far simpler than the mkcf->ntrw->gemexplore route, and you don't need a cf reader on your PC.
You should search some of the posts on this site or at www.audreyhacking.com for details, but basically you do the following:
1) Gain root shell access on audrey (this requires the latest audrey update via marimba)
2) Download and then ftp fs-cifs to your audrey (or is it standard? I don't remember anymore)
3) Mount your shared volume using fs-cifs
4) Run "devb-cf" on audrey
5) Plug in your cf card. (you should see a message) Press enter to get the prompt back.
6) Enter the command: "cat /[your mount point]/[your image name] > /dev/cf"
7) Wait until the prompt comes back.
8) Eject your cf card.
Jukebox,
Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but you are talking way over my head and I am not understanding your example.
All I have presently on my 3 Audreys are the original OEM QNX Image.
I have copied a few programs like VNC and Keyboard from my FTP server directly to my Audreys through the shell program on them.
Your Jukebox image (That I downloaded from your website) is on my PC's hard drive.
I need to know how I can get that image on my Audrey.
Actually I want it put on the CF card so I can then flash it to my Audrey.
I really apperciate your help..

RE:Complete Instructions on making a CF Image for the Audrey (modified 0 times)
Musicman38, I'll email fs-cifs to you. FTP it from your PC in Audrey and save in /nto/bin
Next go to the prompt and do this command:
chmod +x /nto/bin/fs-cifs
Setup a share from your Windows PC in Audrey. Look for instructions on this board, do a search for fs-cifs and you'll find more info than you like on how to setup your share.
From there on follow the instructions in the previous posts in this thread and you're done.
You can download fs-cifs from my Audrey Repository too or press and hold Shift and click here: http://www.prins.net/audrey/fs-cifs
and save as fs-cifs in /nto/bin
Don't forget to chmod +x /nto/bin/fs-cifs
This should do the trick for you.
well you can follow 6 simple steps or you can fry your brains out trying to figure out the multiple contradicting and confusing threads to make the image. i don't care how computer illiterate you may be. if you are not blind you can go into my computer and look up the drive letter representating the CF reader. that's your logical drive letter for the reader and that's what you select in diskprobe. even if you are not blind after reading the thousands of threads on how to write the image to the CF you will probably be close when you are done. This is how i see it: newbies=6 simple steps. hardcore=confusing threads. The answer is quite clear i think. believe me i've got users telling me they were about to go crazy following the complicated instructions here and got nowhere until i told them to use diskprobe. good luck (depends what you use)
