Off Topic Question

Sorry to ask a question not directly related to the Audrey - What exactly is Photon and what would be the equivalent of it in the Linux world? I'm just semi technical and not very Unix literate so just trying to clarify my concepts here.

Thanks

Photon is just an event handler. It is a layer on top of the basic QNX message passing system. However, most people think of Photon as a window system with buttons, mouse cursor, etc, even though technically all that stuff is handled by higher level programs (window manager, input device driver, widget library).

I guess the closest analogy to the Linux world would be Gnome or KDE.

Speaking of off topic questions, has this message board been slow for everyone else lately? Does anyone have an email address for the owner of this board so that we can complain?

Jim,
Yes, this board has been slow for me as well. However, I'm sure when you said "complain" you actually meant to thank the owner for providing this valuable service and inform him or her that there may be a technical problem.
