Noisy Audrey - wakes up when she shouldn't

I have the Jukebox's USB image on this Audrey, with KLSI adapter. She is waking up randomly, about 5-10 minute intervals, then goes to screen saver again. Regardless if connected to the network or not. Also regardless if DHCP or fixed IP was set up. I am using fixed IP, as do not have server DHCP set up. Is it a known issue with the USB image?

No this isn't a known issue, it never happened to me and I use this image all the time.I have no idea what can cause this to happen, maybe someone else?

Well, My Audrey was (not sure is she still is) waking up and going to sleep at random times by herself, but I have the infinity image on her right now. I just let her do her thing and figure that there are somethings that I can't control.

I am not sure if jukebox's image uses saver but when saver launches the screensaver application, whether that is PicSaver or WebSaver or whatever.. it will awaken audrey from a sleep. I think this is due to the script which uses FireKey to bring the app into focus. I think it's the carrige return which wakes audrey up.

I don't use saver for obvious reasons as you just explained. I have also disabled kcron. There is absolutely nothing in my USB1-1 image as you download it, that can wake up Audrey as described in this thread. You should be in complete control when using USB1-1.

if you want to use any picture saver you will need fireKey to bring it to the foreground. I don't think there is any good known method of having the saver launch in the foreground as of now and thus requiring fireKey to make saver work. If you have audrey next to your bed, just turn off the screen saver at night, if you don't might having it running but don't like the noise she makes when waking up you can just delete the wakeup wave file so when she awakes she won't make any noise. You might want to go one step further with using cron to have the process automated, i.e you will have two different saver cfg files, one contains saver in activated mode, one contains saver in deactivated mode. and add two lines to cron, in the morning have the activated one be your saver.cfg and at night have the deactivated one be your saver.cfg. Just follow the thread about cron and download the cron file.

Just a quick note. I'm about finished with a new set of changes for PicSaver. This includes not needing FireKey as well as turning the screen off after X minutes, or turn screen off at XX:XXPM and on at XX:XXAM. Should have this ready in another day or two.

Unfortunately pretty big 350k, but it compresses pretty nicely about 140k. A big part of the file size (2/3) is the image support. gif/jpeg support adds about 200k to any app.

I have been running WebSaver fine without needing firekey. It requires my websaver.sh script in /nto/photon/savers to slay saver then run WebSaver. When I exit WebSaver the script restarts saver. This accomplish's a couple tasks for me. It stops saver from trying to restart WebSaver every 3 minutes while its already running, and it also opens WebSaver with focus. My Audrey is completly setup with saver and cron now. She shuts her screen off between the hours of 11:00PM to 6:00AM every day. Also off Mon-Friday from the hours of 8:00AM to 5:00PM. On on the weekends from 7:00AM to 11:00PM. She also checks during off hours to see if the screen is off. If it is on and WebSaver is running then she turns the screen off. Its exactly what I had wanted to do since I first got her.

Davinci, can you send me a version of WebSaver that doesn't always have focus ontop of other apps. I like it to have focus when first run, but when my phone rings ACID stays behind WebSaver. This causes me to stop WebSaver to see who is calling.

Sorry I thought I did this already. I updated it on my website, I gues I just forgot to tell you.

Also, I don't plan to do any more development on this unless someone has a specific request, so I'll put up my current source and people can play with it at will.

I ended her noisy mutiny: flashed with semi-virgin image. No noisy wakeups since then. Before that I tested with USB1 and USB1-1 also, the wakeup happened with both. It runs now with semi-virgin.

Very strange, this has never happened with my Audrey and any of my images and I run the USB version at all times.

FWIW one of mine does this too, and the reason I think is a defective channel knob. When I try to change channels, it usually just oscillates between the first and second available ones, and sometimes it will get the jitters and start changing channels on its own. This causes it to wake up if it does this while sleeping.
