I installed nfsd on my mac.
Then I went to terminal on audrey and typed

fs-nfs2 192.168.1.101:/Mac HD
(Mac HD is the name of my harddrive)
Terminal returned to the prompt. Can someone give me detailed instructions on what to do next?

Mac nfsd can be found here

Assuming you export the whole hard disk from the root and you name the share on Audrey mac
the command normally would be:
fs-nfs2 192.168.1.101:/ /mac
You'll get this way a directory /mac on Audrey containing the share.
Hope this works for you.

OK, i figured out to mkdir a directory called mac. Now. how do I share just one subdirectory on my mac, for example, a subdirectory called Audrey on Mac HD?
I tried fs-nfs2 192.168.1.101:/mac HD/audrey/ /mac, did not work.

There should be no need to create the directory yourself. The fs-nfs2 command will create the directory as needed.
Your command line will not work with the space in it. Follow my directions for the command line.
You have to setup your nfs server first. Follow the directions that come with the server. Somehow you will have to create an exports file on the MAC determining which directory you want to make available and adjust the command line accordingly. Normally the exports file is setup in /etc/exports.

I changed the name of Mac HD to MacHD and was able to mount a share! Now the only problem is that I get, in my share directory on Audrey, a list of the first 6 or 7 files on MacHD. I would like to mount a subdirectory on the Mac, not the wholw volume.. I don't know if this is possible. When I try this:

fs-nfs2 192.168.1.101:/MacHD/audrey /share

where /MacHD/audrey is the directory I want to share files from, I get nothing. The nfsd docs don't mention how to do this.

How do you do this in windows?

The contents of the exports file determines what the share exactly will be. Currently your share is / and you want it to be /audrey
With windows you woud have the exports file in the etc dir in the windows directory: c:\windows\etc\exports

Sorry if I am being dense. How do you set the content of the export file?

I'm not familiar with the MAC OS or the mac nfs server. A news group exists for mac-nfsd. If you subscribe I'm sure you will find the answer there. All I can see on the web is your server does have exports control, but I don't know the syntax of the exports file.

I tried using nsfd last night and used:
fs-nfs2 192.168.1.101:/MACHD /mac

I got the /mac sub-directory on the Audrey, in the root directory. Opening it brought up only a few of the items in the MACHD directory, as you described.

I set PhJuke to look in /MACHD in its settings screen. Running PhJuke again shows the partial MACHD directory. One of the folders had MP3s in it. Opening it similarily showed only a few files. I was able to select an MP3 and play it without a skip.

Is this what you're getting Jim?

Right now the only problems are mounting a selected directory instead of the whole volume (really only a minor inconvenience), and getting the Audrey to display the contents of the whole directory (this is a deal-breaker at this point).

Any suggestions/solutions?

This is precisely what is happening to me! I will post to the mac-nfsd list about it tonight.

No reponse from the mac-nfsd list so far. Looks like there is no action there at all.
In the meantime, i have found that this works as well and is simpler:
fs-nfs2 192.168.1.101:MacHD /share

Have you tried to do a search for your problem in the news group? I believe http://groups.google.com allows you to do a search in news groups.
