audrey as remote control?

Ok this may be a dumb idea if the IR between the Audrey and keyboard is different than that used in remote controls for TV/Stereo's... but if it isn't, would it be possible to say, control your TV and Stereo via Audrey? Something I'd envision is hitting a "watch dvd" button on the audrey, that would then turn the tv on, set it to video, turn the receiver on, set it to dvd, turn the dvd player on and play.

Does the Audrey even have an IR transmitter? I thought only the keyboard did...

There are several infrared remote projects for Win/Linux. One of them is WinLIRC, http://winlirc.sourceforge.net It uses a simple transmitter/receiver hardware hooked up to the serial port. That would work with Audrey. The challenge lies in porting the WinLIRC to Audrey. The good thing is LIRC has an extensive database of various remotes: http://www.lirc.org/remotes

Hmm, good point, I guess the Audrey would only have a IR receiver, not a transmitter, as it wouldn't need to send anything to the keyboard eh?

Right, Audrey has only a receiver. A transmitter can be plugged into the serial port. Several shematics are out there to build a serial port infrared transmitter. This is the simplest: http://www.lirc.org/transmitters.html - only 3 RadioShack parts soldered to a serial port plug.
A bit more complicated: http://www.lirc.org/improved_transmitter.html

Check out www.misterhouse.net. I think you will find the information you are looking for there pertaining to the Audrey.
