As above

Using Jukebox's image, I type fs-cifs, it says Permission denied. I ran chmod +x just to make sure. Still denied.
What do I need to do?

More details...

fs-cifs -a //computer:192.168.0.1:/share /mnt username password

in my case

fs-cifs -a //STEVEN:192.168.1.101:/share /mnt guest guest does
not work,
nor does

fs-cifs -a //STEVEN:192.168.1.101:/share /mnt guest john

where john is the password

I do not know what to use as username. Windows seems to require a
password
but not a username.

any ideas?

Are you certain that your computer name is capital letters? QNX is very picky about capital vs. lower case letters

I assume you have made a directory called "mnt" on your C drive of your PC, and that the mnt directory is shared.

no, you did it right... sorry to get your hopes up over that.
It seems as though it may be your shared settings on your PC. WHich operating system and do you have a firewall?
is the directory shared with or without password?
I don't use password, but you still have to put something (guest guest) at the end of the fs-cifs line

Thanks for your attemts to help!
I have windows 95
I set a password, seemed like i had to.
If I can set up without a password I wold appreciate knowing how.

the computer and audrey are both connected to the same hub. No firewall there. The router has a built in firewall but that is not betwwen the computer and audrey.

thnks

Jim

Wow, windows 95... let me reflect for a moment. ahhhh.. okay
I believe you can right click on the shared directory, choose the shared tab, then choose shared without password (or something to that effect).
Otherwise, I defer to someone with more qnx/unix experience... although there ain't many of us checking the boards much anymore.
Being able to share files on your PC is crucial, though, to enjoying your Audrey to its fullest potential, so don't give up.

I may be wrong, but there could be a problem with W95 only wanting plain text passwords, not encrypted. Good luck.

audrey does not support encrypted password traffic and neither does win95, so it works out. make sure that you have a /mnt created and that you're typing the correct password; also, try the computername lowercase. as far as i've seen, they *always* broadcast the netbios name in lowercase, despite what you've got entered in the Control Panel.
