Can a harddisk drive be added to Audrey?
Hacks for Audrey

Can the Audrey be hacked like the I-Opener/Virgin? That is, can you add a harddisk drive and operating system other than Linux? I've searched the posts but find no ref at all. Is that cause everyone except me knows it can't be done?
If not, does anyone know if the touchscreen LCD of the Audrey can be used on any other motherboards? I got this in high hopes of creating a GPS system for my truck, with the small display and touchscreen, it could be great. Any help or pointers appreciated.
Keep on truckin', or hackin' or sit back and watch TV...

I have been away from the Audrey for a long time, but when I left, there was NO way to add a hard drive. That doesn't mean it hasn't been done yet. I am assuming from your searches that it hasn't though.

But, as far as the screen being used elsewhere, I recall a post on one of the boards giving the site for the maker of the screen and them talking about an adapter being made to use the touch screen on other types of computers.

I am just getting back into playing with Audrey, so I'll be searching the boards alot in the near future. If I run across the post, I'll drop back in here with the URL. Thought you might wanna know there was talk about it in the past an may wanna do a search on your own and possibly run across it.

Thanks for the reply. Bummer to the answer thou. Got several IOpeners and Webplayers and 1 Audrey, and the Audrey has the screen I need, but not the mainboard. Its a perfect fit for my Mazda console, the other IA run GPS and mapping, but too big for a good fit, and don't have the touchscreen. Oh well, keep looking.

This probably isn't the answer you were looking for, but maybe you can use both.

Install the Audrey in your console, and have it run vncviewer. Have VNCServer running on your other box(IA) that has your GPS stuff. Just make sure that they are networked together and bam.

For my car, I "obtained" a small lcd to mount, a vga-->tv converter, a micro-atx motherboard, and a celeron cpu. (all REAL cheap". The GPS is hooked to the motherboard via USB and the case is mounted underneath the passenger seat. I have a "Virtually Indestructible Keyboard" (the soft roll-up kind for storage in the glovebox - just in case I need it [USB]) and a micro-trackball.(also USB)

The only thing that this lacks is the touch screen.
