I'll be forever grateful for anyone that can provide me with a COMPLETE step-by-step to flash my Audrey with a new image. I've tried following steps from sooo many posts, and I just can't get the flash of a new image done.
I have a:
PNY USB CompactFlash Reader/Writer
PNY 32Mb Compact Flash Card
Windows XP on my PC
md5sum.exe
mkcf.exe
ntrw.exe
Hex Workshop (I've tried different methods of writing the .cf)
infinityspecial1.1a.cf
infinityultimate1.1a.cf (I thought this would have most of the functions I'd be interested in)

Every time I'd try to update my Audrey with the CF card, I'd get the loading from flash green text
followed by "FATAL: Invalid image" in red (it says XLv01.12 in the upper right hand corner at this time).

Do I need to do any updates before I try to flash my Audrey?
I guess I basically am in need of someone being very kind and giving me instructions on how to update my audrey with an image if I've just gotten my new audrey in the mail and taken it out of the box.
I've spent so many hours trying to figure this out, and I'm about to give up. I guess this is my last cry for help :)

I had that problem too. Trying to figure out what size to make the image was a major pain and none of the sizes posted here worked. What I had to do was follow the instructions on creating a backup of my Audrey on the CF. The size of that file was the size I needed to make the image with mkcf.exe. Maybe it'll work for you too.

Thanks GRISHNAKH, I'll try the backup procedure and try that size. I'll let you know if I have any luck.

Do I need to do the updates on the Audrey before loading a new image from the CF is possible?

Has anyone had any luck with a PNY Compact Flash card, if so what size did you use for mkcf?

I've been having the same problems.

I've got the tools just like ZYMEJ and I'm getting the same error message. I don't quite understand what to do with mkcf.exe. I thought that was used to create the .cf image from the raw binary information written from the Audrey. Once you've got a .cf image (I downloaded one or two from the audreyhacking.com files area) why do you need mkcf.exe? So what's the real process here?

I too, have not been able to do an automatic update. I've got the original 1.00.17.01 RC8 9/26/2000 image.
