Hello all,

I am hoping someone can shed some light on a problem I am having. My Audrey does not want to power up.

I have checked the PS and it is outputting 3.4 and 5.15 v
on the pins of the connector

according to the pinout on the power supply the connector has the correct voltages 3.4 pins 1,3,6 and 5.15 on pins 4, 7.

these voltages are measured using the circular shield as ground.

I have seen in other posts that 3.3 and 5 are the voltages needed. So it looks like the supply is OK.

I then disassembled the audrey and checked the connections for loose or unsoldered points but found nothing.

this unit came to me from a friend and he only used it for a short time and it was working when he put it back in the box.

Any ideas as to where the problem lies?

Thanks

When you say it won't start, do you mean it never appears to get power? Or it powers up but won't boot correctly? If it won't boot correctly, your best bet is to reflash the Audrey with a known-good image. Seems unlikely it could go bad during shipping, but many mysterious problems have been solved by reflashing.

I got some pointers from a helpful soul and it seems I have a problem with solder joints under the cpu chip.

after taking the audrey apart, and holding down the silver cpu chip, then powering on the unit seems to work.

but after trying this a few times it seems that even though the screen comes on the display is jumbled.

I can make out what I think is a 3com logo but that is it.

Does this seem to be a common problem these solder issues?

Thanks
