Sorry if this breaks bbs protocol by posting such a similar topic, but the last one cant reach yahoo smtp server? was getting rather long and this seems to be a different problem?
Background:
I've had my Audrey for two weeks now.
I successfully updated my software to the latest version (using dialup only).
I have 2 CF cards and have been trying the wonderful images and tricks that many of you have built and described.
I have also installed DSL and, of course, a router to allow PC and Audrey to share.
Problem:
cannot send email using smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
Email worked fine when I used direct dialup to AT&T to access their mail services.
Now that I have DSL (from sbcglobal) those accounts are inaccessible to Audrey (as SSL is required).
I have configured Audrey to use pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com and smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com.
I can get new mail successfully, but cannot send mail.
Of course the generic error message at the GUI is:
'Audrey can't reach your outgoing (SMTP) mail server. Server: smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com'
I know that this sound suspiciously like the problem described in cant reach yahoo smtp server?, but I have tried switching accounts, deleting and recreating outbound (text) messages, and queueing outbound messages with Send Later several times with no success.
Hints that I think may be meaningful:
- unlike the only email account that I ever had working on Audrey, this smtp server 'requires authentication' (fortunately using the same id/password as pop...)
- has anyone else gotten Audrey setup to work with SBC/Yahoo! DSL (smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com)???
