Tricks for a MIS-Recognized CF card?
My Sandisk 40 is coming up a 7

Ihave a 40 meg Sandisk COmpact Flash card. When I insert it, Audrey thinks it's a 7 meg. Iwouldn't mind if it capped it at 32. But there ain't much I can do with 7.

Is there possibly a trick to 'preparing' the disk for use? Or can I pass arguements to devb-cf to fix the mis-reading?

Also, I pulled this thing out of my digital camera which connects to my PC through a serial cable. I dont have a CF reader for my PC. There could be stuff on this card. Any way of treating this from within pterm on the Audrey?

I once bought a 32MB CF card online. Instead, the company sent me a "free upgrade" to 48 MB. The Audrey reported it as 16MB and I could never get a valid image on it, so I had to send it back. I think people have had success with cards that are multiples of 32MB (like 64, 128), but no luck with other sizes.

Interesting ... I have been trying to locate any docs I can on this devb-cf tool to see if a blocksize can be specified somewhere. But I don't know where to look. Man pages would be great! I have found that the command will take a few arguements, but I have no idea what they might do. I think you can do a 'devb-cf -h' but what follows and what it does is anyones guess. I will be a little less nervous about experimenting once I get a backup image created.

I gave up on making this one work, and ordered a 32 meg Sandisk off eBay. But it sure would be nice if I could hack this one down to 32 megs somehow. Then again ... how the hell would I restore to it? I had better just leave this issue alone. In the end my quest is pointless.

I believe that Sketchy is correct. I have only used 32M cards, but recall reading that multiples of 32M work.

I also think you are correct Ray. It seems like wasted effort trying to get it to work. And, thanks for the info, I have added it.
