I cannot seem to mount a windows share. I am using infinity ultimate1.1a. I have tried the following commands:

fs-cifs-a//computer:192.168.0.1:/music /music pwd pwd

fs-cifs -a//computer:192.168.0.1:/music /music pwd pwd

I get a message that says cannot find music:
I can connect to the windows machine using ftp, it then asks for a password. What password???? The Audrey is a very cool device, but I can't use it to its full ability until I can get a share mounted. Please Help Me out..

The line should look like:
fs-cifs -a //computer:192.168.0.1:/music /music pwd pwd

I used your second line and put a space after the -a

I know this may be obvious, but make sure you have the directory shared out too ;)

Try using the "guest" account. So change pwd to guest.

fs-cifs -a //computer:192.168.0.1:/music /music guest guest

Also, make sure that "computer" is name of the Win XP PC and the music folder is shared.

Hmmm, my cifs line matches what santur posted.

All I can say is make sure the computer name, IP, and share name are correct. Hell, I just checked and the guest account is even disabled on my PC.

And, no, the shared folder can be on any drive.

Hey,
XP instructions as is see them, XP Home version.

Just struggled through this myself and almost gave up... have hope:)

fs-cifs -a //computer:192.168.0.1:/music /music guest guest
or (-vvv) very verbose
fs-cifs -vvv -a //computer:192.168.0.1:/music /music guest guest

1. computer in the line above is the "full computer name", not the workgroup or or computer description.
- to check your computer name, go to control panel, choose "Switch to classic view", then pick the "System" icon,
then pick the "computer name" tab and if you want to change it pick change.
2. make sure folder is shared correctly, right click on it in windows expolorer, choose "Sahring and Security..."
under "Network sharing and security" select Share this folder and put a share name, this will be the "music" the first time in the command above.

3. in the control panel, again in "classic view" choose the "network connections" icon, then right click on the icon under the "lan or high speed Internet" , it may say Local Area connection, and choose properties. pick the Advanced tab, and de-select the checkbox "protect- my computer..."

If you are still having problems, make sure you are not running Zone Alarm or Mcafee firewall, if you are disable them until you get it working.

Notes: I have a router/firewall, and both xp and audrey are behind it. So step 3 do at your own risk.

Good luck, I hope this helps someone, this list has certainly helped me!

Thanks Beaker, Santuf, Dill. I got those windows shares mounted on my audrey. Seems as though I had the firewall available in windows xp, enabled. Once I disabled it the mounting was successful..
