We need one!

I see that there was some interest in creating an EfNet audrey discussion. How about we work on getting together an IRC application for the Audrey? The only one I have found one that works well on the Audrey is called NeuIRC. The author seems to have written it for QNX 6 and then abandoned it. But its very small in size (a single binary) and it runs on minimal resources. Problem is, he never finished it, and it's pretty buggy.

I have yet to find a QNX IRC application. Most of the ones I have found require the use of XF86 on top of QNX ... which is just TOO much for Audrey. She needs a native IRC client!!!

How hard of a project would this be? I think the pay-off speaks for itself.

Another thing I would like to see happen is a graphical Jabber client that supports gateways. I run a Jabber server that lets me connect to ICQ, AIM, Yahoo, and MSN contacts all at once. But this may be pretty dificult to create for the Audrey.

Hell I dont know, I am not a developer. Someone make these for us!!!

I am as guilty as any at cross-posting. Especially in the past week! I need to search before I open my mouth.

I have solved my IRC issues by bringing irc-ii over to my audrey. It has been running for DAYS without crashing. Much more than I could say for NeuIRC. While it's not graphical, I think I like the terminal a little more anyway. I put a shortcut in Shelf to run pterm maximized, with one of the larger Fonts, and then fire the irc-ii Ap. It's nice! I have the binary up if anyone wants to try it. See this thread ...

As far as Jabber goes, I have tried JabberX, and it's nice! Only a few annoyances with the client that I think have been solved with the latest version of JabberX (maybe the last version, not a lot of interest in it). Now we have to beg jhd3rd to help us build it! You can read about my begging in this thread.
