Question: It is posible to program into Audrey Windows CE or POCKET PC operating system? I beleive it would be of much more use than the all the problems of making the QNX stuff speak with the hardware of the system. If any of you have done something like this, or have any ideas on how to do it, please post you thoughts and ideas in this board. I believe at Microsoft site you can find the developing software that is compatible with this Windows operating systems.

In theory, it is possible to run about any x86 based operating system. So I guess the short answer is 'yes, it's possible'.

However, the engineers at 3-Com decided that a thinned out QNX was the bext fit for Audrey because of it's speed and extremely small footprint. I tend to agree that it's probably the best OS to run on it. Seeing how they actually engineered the device with this OS in mind.

I would like to see Linux, or something else get ported just for the sake of experimentation. But for getting the best use out of Audrey, QNX has done me just fine.

I am still holding out for that graphical jabber client. Perhaps one day a skilled developer will get sick of my bitching and code one for use in photon.

No, Audrey needs a stable, open, unbloated O/S. QNX pretty much fits that bill, M$ products do not.

The audrey has more then enough room and power to run windows CE. Not sure if it can though. Windows CE is very well designed and can be stripped down to an extremely small footprint.

I have a working CE distro that would work on the audrey, but you cant do much with it. unless someone know's how to work with it? it runs off of 2 dos partitions and the file structure is basicly just a bunch of large files in the 1meg size which is loads from? the CE was orignaly designed for a device which I have but the hardware is 99% the same so it WILL work with the audrey aside from modem maybe?? check my link below
