getting a cf image onto an XP box ?

After some effort, I convinced my Audrey to auto-upgrade and give me root. I've backed up to a CF card. However, I can't find a way to get the image from my CF card to my XP machine for archival purposes, just in case. After searching the Unofficial FAQ, Audreyhacking.com, linux-hacker, and Google, I've found/attempted these options:

Gemulator Explorer: while it doesn't hang when running in 2000-compatible mode as Gemulator's site warned, it will not read any files off the card. Others seem to have similar problems.

USBCFTEST.EXE: can't find it anywhere, and it sounds like others have had a number of problems with it, anyway.

fs-cifs: every time I try to mount a shared windows directory, Audrey replies "/nto/bin/ksh: fs-cifs: not found". I have found no other postings from anyone who has this problem. When I list files in the bin directory, fs-cifs isn't listed.

If anyone has any thoughts or could describe how they were successful, I'd appreciate it.

thanks,

You need to get fs-cifs onto Audrey first.

The best way is to download fs-cifs to your XP box, temporarily setup and FTP server on your XP box (trials can be found at download.com). Then FTP from Audrey to your XP box and transfer the file.

Then, of course, backup Audrey again incase you need to restore her. Then you don't have to FTP the file again.

Thanks, dill.

It was successful, but not right away. I guess I will explain what happened in case somebody else has the same problem.

I found a copy of fc-cifs, downloaded it to windows, FTPed it to my server, and then FTPed it to the audrey into the nto/bin folder (though I think it can go in any bin folder: once i put it in nto/bin, it appeared every bin folder). Got a "Permissions denied" type error. I had forgotten to type "chmod +x fs-cifs", which allows you to execute it after downlad. Then I typed "fs-cifs -a //Computer:I.P.ad.dy:/Share /Share guest guest" again, but now it says "not enough memory".

After much gnashing of teeth, I realized that by downloading fs-cifs directly through XP, XP had converted it to ASCII. What I had to do was find it ZIPed somewhere. I found it on Robert's mp3 page:
http://www.canoma.com/audrey/mp3.html

After that, I could unzip it, FTP it, chmod +x it, and run it with no problem.

And knowing is half the battle.
