Syncing Calendar and Contacts through network

Has anyone been able to sync their calendar and contacts through a network connection? -- In fact, I would be OK if the info didn't sync - just over-wrote the info on the Audrey with updated files from the desktop.

OK, after looking over the threads I may be the last guy out there using an Audrey as in part originally intended, but I do still use the contact and calendar functions. But I want to upgrade to a Sony Clie, which I suspect will not sync through the USB port (let's just assume it won't).

If snycing through the network is not possible, is there possibly a file or two that I could copy - maybe from the Palm Sync backup area on a desktop to the Audrey - to keep this information up to date? Could a small file be written to complete this task easily?

This board had been an ongoing resource for myself and I am grateful to those who share info regularly!

TIA
BL

Check out Dilligaf's website (http://dilligaf.d2g.com/audrey/indexwhite.shtml)

I believe he partially answers your question there if you scroll down to the section labelled "Shared Calendar and Addressbook".

He's even got some scripts that will let you copy the Audrey files to a shared drive on a networked computer.

It looks like the files you want are DatebookDB.gdbm and AddressDB.gdbm, stored in /data/hotsync/__kojak\$name
where $name is the name of the person whose data they are ("main" if there's only one).

You'll need to figure out how to convert this data to Sony Clie format, if that's what you want to synch.

Another option is to do as Robert did (http://www.canoma.com/audrey/calendar.html) and use Yahoo's calendar/addressbook and just use they Audrey to access it. Then you can use Intellisync (http://calendar.yahoo.com/?v=120&pv=61) to keep your PDA & Yahoo calendar synchronized.

Hope this helps,

So it sounds like what your saying is the data files for calendar and contacts on the Audrey are in a different format than that which is saved to the desktop during a hotsync and used by Palm Desktop? I couldn't just copy over the data files from the Palm Desktop subdirs. and rename them?

Just and FYI, I tried to get on Yahoo Calendar with Audrey/Voyager and it said I had an incompatible browser. I have some recollection of Yahoo being able to be run in a different mode (perhaps without Java?) - I wonder if it still does that. And I didn't try the "printable views" though, perhaps those still work.

The Aurdrey is such a cool device and it looks great in my kitchen, but it seems to keep getting harder and harder to use in everyday life because of changing technology.

Thanks for all your time!
Billl
