force serial-port upgrade (has anyone ever used this?)
also, after much gnashing of teeth, I've figured out the re-flashing problem described in the last post: It appears that, at least for me, the "auto-mounting of windows directories" procedure listed on Robert's MP3 page (2nd half of step) hampers the reflashing process. I suspect that changing "sh boot.sh" to "sh boot.sh &" is the culprit. Anyway, when I undid/commented out the chages to kojak/boot.sh and kojak/go, everything was cool again.
Has anyone else utilized Robert's MP3 hack and experienced a re-flashing problem? I wanted to ask Robert himself, but I can't find his email.
As a side note, there is one thing that still completely baffles me. It seems to me that with an error like this, it should either prevent re-flashing or it shouldn't. However, there was one circumstance when I could re-flash: If I ran "devb-cf", and then "cat fs0p0 fs0p1 > /dev/cf", and then right away shutdown and plugged-in with datebook-power, it would re-flash my current version properly. But in every other situation the datebook-power reboot only "Loaded from CompactFlash." Bizarre.
