Hi all
I've searched a lot through the forum, but despite reading lots I'm faced with a dead audrey :( and so I have to ask for help :) I'm trying to think this through laterally but not getting very far!
I'm the UK and I bought it new via ebay USA. When I received it, I started it up a few times using a stepdown transformer and it seemed to work ok.
As I'm in Uk I then mod'ded the PSU to take 240v a la http://www.ivor.it/audrey/. Noting the output voltages were a little different without load: 3.0v and 6v, not 3.3 and 5v exactly when it was in 120v configuration, I booted it a few times then started letting the audrey run through updating itself via the IP /DNS spoofing method hoping to find a server. During this process I wasnt sure it had progressed as I'd left it for a long time and seen no response. I turned it off and now it won't restart at all.
Up to this point I'd noted that it wouldn't start up 1 out of 4 attempts without leaving it off for 30mins and so had a vague idea something wasnt quite right.
I hear no sounds, no response from holding any key down on boot, no LCD backlight, no "3com" boot screen..nada. I have checked for dry joints on the daughterboard - seem ok. The only sign of life is when I turn it off, I hear a little powering down pop/ squeak from the speakers.
I've tried to make a flash card to boot it from, but even if I havent got the size correct, it wont get as far as responding or rejecting the card anyway. I haven't been able to back the original image up as of course I never got as far as a shell either.
Please, can anyone provide me some clues and perhaps a more logical path to investigating & solving the problem? Is this likely to be hardware or software? Is it the IPL is trashed, or is the 'half wave' psu mod risky and have a trashed my audrey before I've even got it going properly? Am I destined to be audrey-less and have to give it up before I've even begun:(
Sorry for so many questions but as you can see I'm reaching for help and I have tried to rectify it myself as far as poss..
Cheers in advance, any suggestions very welcome. Iain
ps I've reverted the PSU back to 120v - no change.
