since all of them dns spoofs and update servers seem to be down i am thinking of setting up a spoof/update server on my own.
all i need is the update files.
i wonder where they are?
maybe someone out there could guide me in finding the files so that we all can update our audreys online again.
That would be great. Can't you take one off the images from audreyhacking.com or do you need the original audrey image for that ?
I don't know much about how a marimba server works but isn't it just an image file that is copied over when an audrey connects to such a server.
In the early days there where some spoofed servers online so at least some people should have the images and the knowledge to do this.
Anyway succes and thanx for you initiative.
nico: i am unsure if it would be possible to create updates from existing images. it might be, but i figure it would be easier to start with the basics. setting up a marimba/castanet-server seems to be rather simple to me, same with "spoofing" DNS. getting hold of the original files seems to be the hardest part.
after trying to reach some of the former operators of private spoof/update servers (without luck) i am currently talking to 3com(!) to hand out them files to me.
as soon as there's more to say i will post it here and on audreyhacking.
