I am quite new to Audrey but have done a bit of research on this board. Can someone post steps needed to connect through a cable modem & router? I am not too familiar with dynamic / static IP configuration however, I do know that in the past I typically just selected DHCP on other laptops in the house to connect to the internet. I have not been able to get an IP address that way with Audrey. Physcial connections are all fine. I am using the OEM 3c19250 adapter. Green light is on. Audrey recognizes when I remove from USB. Orange light only flashes once every few minutes or so. Per my router Audrey does not show up as connected yet.

So I tried playing with static settings. Picked a free IP address within the range 192.168.0.x but still have not been able to have an IP assigned to connect to internet. I remain confused on appropriate DNS settings as well. Tried a few I found here for update pages (long dead I believe).

Can someone supply simple step by step to connect.??? Thought ths would be plug and play but, I guess not...

Thanks!

All I did was get into the Audrey Preferences and choose Network. There, I entered my static IP and other pertinent information and it worked OK. But then, I'm using a wireless bridge to connect to, then the wireless bridge connectes to my wireless router - but I would expect the concept is the same as you're trying to accomplish.

How far can you ping from Audrey? Can you ping your wireless router? I would suppose not, since you don't see the Audrey connected while in the router interface.

You don't have the router set up for WEP or WPA, do you? You don't have MAC address filtering set up on the router, do you? Or if you do, you've added the MAC address of your 3Com USB dongle..

I'd think that DHCP would be the way to go for ease of use, and if that fails, try static IP (don't forget, your IP/Subnet address must be on the same network as your LAN network on the router
