I recommend viewing the executable /kojak/CGI/SendMessage (more /kojak/CGI/SendMessage). Like most of these executables, there have lots of readable text near the bottom. This one has a list of commands it can perform. I discovered this by viewing the /data/Browser/history.html file which shows all browser history, including the Channels and other system requests that use SendMessage to perform actions. Example, in the browser type:

http://localhost/cgi-bin/SendMessage?M=LAUNCH_CHANNEL_SELECTOR
and it will! Other phrases I've seen included those to add email, url, etc. to addressbook, plus a few more. (DISMISS_ACTION_PALETTE,COMPOSE_EMAIL,ADD_EVENT_TO_CALENDAR,...)

Have fun,
Deviant

deviant: yup, as i mentioned to robert in another thread, never underestimate the value of dumping a binary executable file. if you're using a linux or QNX RTP box, FTP the file there, and use the 'strings SendMessage' command to dump all of these out. i'm using the frhed.exe hex editor for Windoze to scan selected utilities. keep digging around, and don't forget to post any particularly interesting or useful text you find. someone else could always understand and/or use something you find... keith721

nice !
Does Sendmessage allow additional parameters ?
That way you could completely create a calendar event, email etc. from a web page
I tried <a href="mailto:who@where.com?subject=bla&body=bla">
It takes the subject ok, not the body. Also, this method obviously doesnt work for Calendar, address book.
Thanks for the truffles, file sniffers !

robert: and thank YOU for collecting, cleaning up, and un-geek-ing some of these threads on your web site. i really appreciate your site, because it's clean, straight-forward, and easy to read. sooner or later, our user guide / configuration manual for Audrey will be large enough for PDF format, and between your site, sowbug's page, and nata2's audreyhacking.com, we'll have a good spread of valuable information for audrey users with different levels of expertise. thanks again for helping!! keith721

Robert, yes, parameters are used. This will probably lead you there. Perform the calendar event add or whatever, then look in the history file I referenced. It'll probably have the URL with parameters for you to copy. Do various operations, and you'll be able to open up the whole thing.

This sendmessage is interesting, it's a good start to figuring out the inter-messaging between the apps. I assume all the apps that require res's pid communicate using this type of messaging, and buttond is the relay for the hardware buttons to the apps. This is why when we run other apps that are not 'res friendly' the buttons won't work.

If the messaging could be figured out between apps you could write custom apps for the hardware buttons, automatically put the browser in 'full-screen' mode, etc. I haven't had time to look at the qnx inter-process messaging protocol, but it may be possible to build an app that would intercept messages.

I think Sendmessage may be used for apps that don't have support for the 'normal' intermessaging protocol.

hmm.

I found a cool one, if you are hitting the CGI from another machine...

/cgi-bin/SendMessage?M=GOTO_URL&S=www.yahoo.com

It will open the browser and goto the URL given.

Anyone have any idea how to use one of these to update
a channel, just like GOTO_URL makes the Browser goto
a URL, do any of the below make a channel update to
a URL?

UPDATE_CHANNEL
UPDATE_ALL_CHANNELS
UPDATE_CURRENT_CHANNEL

Can anyone email me( zac@zacwolf.com ) the SendMessage binary? I just installed jukebox's "QNX Audrey Platform" with QNX USB support and it doesn't seem to have the binary...

Does anyone know if the GOTO_URL will work with the "real" Voyager browser?

THANKS!!!
