TigerDirect out of Audreys....Any other sources? I saw that ad for that store in IL, but I'm in GA, so it would be quite a drive ;). Is there any way to order from them? The TigerDirect site on my computer just took my order amd payment for a Green Audrey at $99.99, and what's more I've already got the tracking number.....so its on the way. Try calling them up if their server is down - which it often seems to be lately and then it redirects to the Yahoo sales site which has different goodies for sale - but no Audrey's. Yellow & Green, the system took my order & I got order confirmations on both. I got the green one today and I got a cancellation notice on the yellow one. I called them at about the same time of your message 4:30p est to see about another green and was told, none left, none due, no refurb list, no way to get another; period. We have "some" held back in white and green, however are currently not available for sale. The yellow ones it appears there are 30 units which will not ship making some purchasers a little upset - they sold so fast the system didn't shut them down in time! The "return" Audreys already on order will ship as any returns come in. I see some more shipped today and there are some more ready to go out tomorrow. Once all the existing orders have cleared there is a possibility that we will sell the remaining units, but will probably do it on half.com where I can say "sell 22" and it will sell 22, otherwise I'll end up with 10 people who won't get it and get mad and start threads in here calling TigerDirect scammers, bait and switch experts and all those other things I've been seeing. I have to tell y'all that because of everyone's support, Audrey has really made an impact across the US and the web. We've been getting phone calls at our retail outlet from all over the country asking for them (no, there isn't any) and people now are suffering from withdrawals because they waited just a little too long to order. I see that other sources are popping up at higher prices, but I really don't think many people will order at those prices. I think she was priced just right. Did I mention the IA-1? Oh, yeah! Well, they are IN THE WAREHOUSE AND READY TO SHIP. It doesn't show up if you search for it on the site (as it's not there) but........ if you want an IA-1 for $99.99 (it is a recert and is supposed to come with 6 months of MSN service and the one I got looks new): Go to the TigerDirect.com site, and in the "Express Lane" box on the top masthead, enter the sku "C860-A783" and it will add it to your shopping cart. If you click on the item link in your shopping cart it will NOT show you the product details as they have not been made live. OFF TOPIC: i went and ordered one TigerDirect.. i assume the units are the LCD w/wireless keyboard (IA-1 specs)... however, Compaq's info regarding this unit is confusing and contradictory... for example, regarding the issue of connecting the unit to a LAN (in order to access Internet services via broadband or IP masquerading) using a USB Ethernet adapter: http://communities.compaq.com/servlet/ProcessRequest?RHIVEID=121&RPAGEID=135&HOID=507900000008000000470F0000&UCATEGORY_0=_30_%24_9_&UCATEGORY_S=0 the 'advice,' which, according to Compaq is 'expert answered and approved' is the you CANNOT do this... however, a June 5, 2001 press release from Compaq states that you CAN this (i didn't save the URL) due to some form of new update... i can only hope that the 'serviced' IA-1 units that TigerDirect is selling have been updated... the utility of these units, such as the Audrey or IA-1 (or ThinkNIC, which is a great device) to me is in their inherent usefulness as an extension of my LAN... <sigh> i guess i'll find out if the IA-1 can be put to use on my network... you'd have to tether me to a pole with a long leather thong, eviscerate me, and make me dance around in circles dragging my entrails in the sand before i'd sign up for MSN dialup service... I crossed my fingers as i opened the box. Luckily all parts were intact(except the channel knob was off, no biggie).It looks like everything is working fine. She needs a good cleaning though. I will flash it and attempt to get on line tomorrow. The funny thing is that the guy who owned it before left all his data in her including credit card info. Not too smart. Just wanted to tell you that there is a possibility that we will NOT offer these "parts only" units in the future. This decision may be based upon the negative feedback here and a very terse email which complained about: the way it was repacked in the box (by whoever returned it), shipped in the Audrey box, and finally that there was no stylus (although they did mention that it was otherwise complete and fully functional). Everyone who bought the "parts" units en masse last time - I never heard a whimper. Nada. This time, we sell 19 and I get complaints. Would everyone rather we let them sit around until someone decides to throw them into a grinder and write them off or sell them to a liquidator? If people want a brand new unit, in brand new virgin packaging - YOU SHOULD HAVE BOUGHT IT WHEN THEY WERE $499 FROM 3COM OR WHEN WE HAD ALL THE NEW UNITS FOR $89. All the units being sold on eBay and UBid (yes, I know where they are coming from and it's not us, we had an option to purchase them recently however the price was too high to satisfy all my friends here) are OPEN BOX UNITS. They may be repacked by the sellers and checked for completeness - refurbed? I doubt it. To sell parts units or not? That is the question of the day. We never did this with ANY other sku. Never. Why? To avoid complaints. Everyone knows what the deal was. I cannot apologize. Do you repack things perfectly like they came out of the box when you return them? I know I don't. Sorry - had to vent. I'm sure you guys made some kinda profit as expected you should (that is the whole concept of a "business"). But most of your complaints are going to be from people who missed out. It sucks, I too wish I would have ordered 30 of them when they were 20 bucks, but, instead I only ordered 1, oh well. It was a gamble, you stated it.. we knew it... that's life. How many people call up the lottery board complaining because their lottery ticket was'nt a winner. I wrote the note between the time I received the package and the time I started becoming comfortable that I had received a working Audrey for $60 (counting shipping). As I explained to Lonny, I had simply never received a computer item purchased online without the original packaging being enclosed in an external carton with additional padding. I guess my fear that I had purchased a unit that, while it might have been working when shipped, had been reduced to "parts" when it arrived. I am glad to say that UPS must have been pretty gentle with this particular box. Anyway, I am very glad to have an Audrey at a good price, and I encouraged Lonny not to stop offering such deals purely on my account. TomC 01-30-2002 21:24:51

They arrived all jumbled up in the box, packing material was there but no effort had been made to repack Audrey to help insure safe transit. One works, the other is DOA. I'm not upset about that because I realize that they are parts only. My gripe is that for a $20 shipping fee I feel that TD could have done a better job of packing them so that they aren't "junk only". Luckily I live very near Naperville so UPS didn't have too much of a chance to knock them around. When I buy a book from Amazon they charge me for shipping but they pack things so nicely you could drop them off the Sears Tower and they wouldn't have a scratch.
