Audrey & Wireless USB Networking
Can an Audrey get on an 802.11b network using a Wireless USB Network Adapter?

Hey all,
I've got a Linksys WAP11 in my home which runs my 802.11b wireless network. Is it possible to use Linksys' new Wireless USB Network Adapter (WUSB11: http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?prid=174&grid=16) with the Audrey I own? I'd imagine that I could configure the WUSB11 on my Windows machine (network p/w, etc.) and then plug it right into my Audrey for use?

Thanks in advance - I'd really be excited to get rid of the ethernet cable I have running from my WAP11 down the hall!

MarioBros:

i'm kinda waiting on the same thing. we need to get the QNX 6.1 io-net working on Audrey (not terribly simple?), and find a compatible QNX device driver (this is the really hard part) for the ATMEL chipset inside the WUSB-11 network adapter.

Just thought i'd bring this back to the top.. Has anyone configured this successfully?

I'd be interesting in hearding about any wireless success stories..

Specifically, I'm looking for wireless / Audrey solutions with the Linksys WUSB11.

Thanks, Dave

Hello All,
I've got one Audrey up and running on 802.11b, but it was kind of costly - an additional $170+shipping on top of the USB eth. adapter. Enterasys (was Cabletron) makes a 'roamabout' box, which has an RJ-45 jack on it and a PCMCIA 802.11 card inside. As far as my installation - plug it in, watch it work. It even cloned the MAC address off of the USB dingus, so the DHCP server could give it the same IP address as it had before. Voila! Audrey on the nightstand. For the money, prolly could have bought an Epods, but I already have/love the Audreys all over the house. Here's a link to the box:

Best,
Kevin

Sounds a lot easier than the 2 hours I spent in the crawl space of my house trying to drill in the smallest corner of the house (should be called lay flat on your stomach space and bring the flexible drill extension) then fishing a wire down the walls to get cat5 down into my kitchen counter. I think I will spend the money I saved on dry wall patch and paint.. (I had to pop holes in the wall to get through 2 fireblocks for some reason :)) and maybe get some nice speakers too.
