Peracom USB Ethernet
Problems with flashing Peracom

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with flashing the Peracom USB ethernet adaptors? I have been fooling around with one and it is a Kawasaki chipset. Internally is appears to be similiar to the 3com one. I have qtools and got it installed. It will read the eeprom and everything looks ok until I try to write to the flash. Update or writing to eeprom will lock the machine up. I have tried it on 2 different win98 machines and both act the same. Win2k refuses to install the qtools inf file so that rules out all my other machines.

I bought a 3com 3c19250 from shentech.com this week. It turned out that even though the device says 3com and has the correct labeling it in fact is a Peracom device VID 0565 PID 0002. I used your technique for flashing using the linksys.bin file and it worked great. As a mater of fact I had a CAIS device that was of the same chipset that I couldn't get the Macparse to work with. It worked on it as well.

Thanks for the tip...
