Long Range Internet
Make Your Cybiko Connect Further Away

Hi I am starting this thread to show you how to take a cybiko and increase its range dramaticly. If you would like to join me in my quest to change wireless access for personal , and free minus equipment and your current broadband or dial up connection then email me at pbrandonc00@yahoo.com with subject "long range Cybiko."

Its quite simple actually. You need 2 cybiko's, Depending on your range wanted you need an l-band omni directional or multiple directional (to cover a 360* area) 902-928Mhz antenna with no more then 36db of boost.(otherwise you need an FCC lisence!) A pigtail or homemade adapter to connect to your base station cybiko. A ham radio antenna tower that is tall enough to reach over most trees. The cybiko that will be moble needs an antenna you can easily use as portable, i recomend one of those stick on repeaters , the cell phone style as seen on tv antennas (but must be on 902-928mhz frequency), or a small antenna with at least 3db of boost. Walla, my theory. I will be running test soon and reccomend a 36db antenna for the base station. If you try please email me with results
-Brandon
PS. With a 36db antenna on both ends you can reach a 50km distance

OK, the last post on the 8xx mhz is for the uk cybiko.
To make an N type adapter to connect the cybiko to a 902-928mhz compatable antenna with a mail N type end simply solder a 50ohm cable to the center pin of a female type N adapter, remove the antenna from the cybiko and connect the opposite end of the wire to that. Connect the femal N to the male N adapter and wala, it should increase range.

I also am going to expierament with rf amplifiers:)

Congratulations on your success. I'm amazed that those stick on cell phone extenders actually work.

What's the range up to now?
